(Mgh.) ― -b2- It is said in a trad. respecting the Assistants (الانصار) [of Mohammad], أَنْتُمُ ا@لشِّعَارُ وَا@لنَّاسُ ا@لدِّثَارُ, meaning (assumed tropical:) Ye are the persons of distinction, and the [ other ] people are the vulgar. (TA.) [See also شِعَارٌ.] ― -b3- أَبُو دِثَارٍ and بَيْتُ أَبِى دِثَارٍ The thin curtain (كِلَّة) by which one protects himself from gnats, or musquitoes; the musquito-curtain: [see an ex. in the first paragraph of art. بعض:], or ابو دثار is an appellation of the gnat, or musquito; because it is concealed in the daytime; or because a دثار is wanted to protect one from its annoyance.
