ظرف

ظَارِفٌ ذ [is distinguished from ظَرِيفٌ like as شَارِفٌ is from شَرِيفٌ, q. v.]. Lh mentions the saying اُظْرُفْ اـِنْ كُنْتَ ظَارِفًا [ Possess thou ظَرْف if thou be one who will possess it ]: in meaning the actual state, they said اـِنَّهُ لَظَرِيفٌ [ Verily he is one who possesses ظَرْف]. (M.)
