Root entry · 1 derived lemma

6 تَطَالَعَتْهُ ذ i. q. طَرَقَتْهُ [i. e. (assumed tropical:) She, or it, or they (referring to irrational things), came to him in the night ]: Aboo-'Alee cites [as an ex.], تَطَالَعُنِى خَيَالَاتٌ لِسَلْمَى كَمَا يَتَطَالَعُ الدَّيْنَ الغَرِيمُ [ Apparitions of Selmà come to me in the night, like as the creditor comes in the night to exact the debt ]: but accord. to another, or others, it is only ↓ يَتَطَلَّعُ, because تَفَاعَلَ is generally intrans.: so that accord. to Aboo-'Alee, it is like تَفَاوَضْنَا الحَدِيثَ and تَعَاطَيْنَا الكَأْسَ and تَنَاشَدْنَا الأَشْعَارَ.
