Root entry · 1 derived lemmaمُحَيًّا محيا The face (S, K, Ham p. 23) of a man, because it is specified in salutation; [see 2;] (Ham ubi suprá;) a term used only in praise; (Ham p. 640;) i. e. the face altogether: or the حُرّ of the face [i. e. the ball of the cheek; or what appears of the elevated part thereof; or what fronts one, of the face, &c.]. (K.) ― -b2- Of a horse, it is The place where the flesh is separated (حيث انفرق اللحم) beneath the forelock. (Ham p. 23.) And دَائِرَةُ المُحَيَّا, in a horse, [ The feather in ] the place of separation [ of the hair ] beneath the forelock, in the upper part of the forehead. (TA.)
