حمى

8 احتمى احتمى احتمي أحتمى أحتمي ٱحتمى He protected, defended, or guarded, himself, [or he became protected, &c.,] from a thing. (KL.) ― -b2- And He (a sick man, K) refrained, forbore, or abstained, (K, KL,) مِنَ الطَّعَامِ [ from food, or the food ], (S,) or مِمَّا يَضُرُّهُ [ from what would injure him ]; (TA;) as also ↓ تحمّى. (K.) ا@حْتِمَايَا occurs at the end of a verse, preserving the original form, [for ا@حْتِمَاآءَ,] accord. to a dial. of certain of the Arabs. (S.) -A2- احتمى غَضَبًا: see 1.
