8 احتذى ذ He wore, or put on, a sandal, or sandals. (S, TA.) Hence the saying, خَيْرُ مَنِ ا@حْتَذَى النِّعَالَ [ The best of those who have worn sandals ]. (TA.) A rájiz says, كُلَّ الحِذَاآءِ يَحْتَذِى الحَافِى الوَقِعْ [ The barefooted whose sole is hurt by the rugged ground and stones will put on any sandal: a prov.]. (S. [See Freytag's Arab.
