عول

عَائِلٌ ذ [act. part. n. of عَالَ]. ― -b2- One says أَمْرٌ عَائِلٌ and عَالٍ, the latter being formed by transposition, meaning [ An affair, or event, ] hard to be borne, severe, or distressing, and great, or formidable. (TA.) ― -b3- عَائِلٌ applied to a measure of capacity means Exceeding others. (IAar, TA in art. عيل.)
