عو

عَوَّةٌ ذ [mentioned in the first sentence of this art. as an inf. n.] A crying out, shouting, or clamouring; like ضَوَّةٌ: one says, سَمِعْتُ عَوَّةَ القَوْمِ i. e. [ I heard ] the cries, or shouts, or clamour, of the people, or party: so says AZ, and As says the like.
