عَمَّ ذ in the phrase عَمَّ يَتَسَاآءَلُونَ [ Respecting what do they ask one another? in the Kur lxxviii. 1] is originally عَمَّا, [for عَنْ مَا,] the ا being elided in the interrogation [after the prep. عَنْ]. (S.)
