عَالٍ ذ : see عَلِىٌّ. ― -b2- [Hence,] رَجُلٌ عَالِى الكَعْبِ (assumed tropical:) A man who is elevated, exalted, eminent, or noble. (K. [See also كَعْبٌ.]) It is said in a trad. respecting Keyleh, لَا يَزَالُ كَعْبُكِ عَالَيًا, meaning May thou not cease to be elevated, or noble; exalted above such as treats, or regards, thee with enmity. (TA.) ― -b3- مِنْ عَالٍ signifies the same as مِنْ عَلِ, q. v. (S, K.) ― -b4- عَالِيَةُ الدَّمِ, said of the حَائِض, means One whose blood rises above the water. (TA.) ― -b5- [عَالٍ applied to a word, or form of word, signifies (assumed tropical:) Of high authority, approved, or chaste: and hence, usual, or common: see أَعْلَى.] -A2- See also عَائِلٌ, in art. عول.
