Barley for a horse or similar beast, (MA,) [in which sense and also as meaning provender of beans and the like, the former word is now used, properly, or originally,] that is hung upon the beast [ in a مِخْلَاة, or nose-bag ]: (TA:) pl. عَلَائِقُ. (MA.) ― -b2- And hence, as being likened thereto, (tropical:) Wine. (TA.)
