عقب

مُعْقَبٌ ذ [appears, from what here follows, to be used for مُعْقَبٌ حَالُهُ i. e. One whose state is changed ]. IAar cites as an ex. of this word, كُلُّ حَىٍّ مُعْقَبٌ عُقَبَا meaning [ Every living being ] comes to a state different from that in which he was [ by turns, or time after time ]. (TA.)
