عفر

وَقَعُوا فِى عَافُورِ شَرٍّ ذ , (S, K,) and شَرٍّ ↓ فِى عَفَارِ, (TA,) i. q. فِى عَاثُورِ شَرٍّ, (Fr, S, K,) i. e., They fell into difficulty, or distress. (S.) Some say that the ف is substituted for ث. (TA.) [But see عاثور.]
