8 اِعْتَسَمْتُهُ ذ I gave him what he coveted from me. (S, TA.) -A2- And الاِعْتِسَامُ signifies الاِكْتِسَابُ [expl. above]: see 1. (TA.) -A3- Also The sheep's, or goats', bringing forth, and the pastor's coming and putting to every one of them her young one. (S, K.) [Accord. to the TK, one says, اِعْتَسَمَتِ الشَّاةُ, (using الشاة, as is sometimes done, in the sense of the coll. gen. n. الشَّاآءُ, or the former may be a misprint for the latter,) meaning The sheep, or goats, brought forth, &c.] -A4- And The taking and wearing an old and worn-out sandal, or boot. (K.) [Accord. to the TK, one says, اعتسم النَّعْلَ, or الخُفَّ, meaning He took the sandal, or the boot, in an old and worn-out state, and wore it. ]
