اخو

Root entry · 1 derived lemma

2 أَخَّيْتُ لِلدَّابَّةِ ذ , (S, K,) or الدَّابَّةَ, (Msb, [so accord. to a copy of that work, but probably this is a mistranscription,]) inf. n. تَأْخِيَةٌ, (S, Msb, K,) I made an اآخِيَّة [q. v.] for the beast, (Msb, K,) and tied the beast therewith; (Msb;) [and so, app., ↓ اآخَيْتُ (which, if correct, is probably of the measure أَفْعَلْتُ); for it is related that] an Arab of the desert said to another, لِى اآخِيَّةً ↓ اآخِ أَرْبِطُ اـَلَيْهَا مُهْرِى [ Make thou for me an اآخيّة to which I shall tie my colt ]. (TA.) And you say, فُلَانٌ فِى فُلَانٍ اآخِيَّةً فَكَفَرَهَا ↓ اآخِى (assumed tropical:) Such a one did a benefit to such a one, and he was ungrateful for it. (TA.) [But perhaps اآخِ and اآخَى in these two exs. are mistranscriptions for أَخِّ and أَخَّى.]
