(K in art. شكأ.) [See also شَقَّ.] شَاقِى, with the ء softened [or changed into ى], occurs in a verse of Dhu-r-Rummeh [for the part. n. شاقئ]. (TA.) -A2- شَقَأَ رَأْسَهُ He divided his head; syn. شَقَّهُ: [meaning, his hair: ] or he separated it (فَرَّقَهُ) [i. e. his hair ] with the مِشْقَاآء [or comb ]: (K:) or شَقَأَ شَعَرَهُ بِالمُشْطِ, inf. n. شَقْءٌ, he separated his hair with the comb. (AZ, S.) ― -b2- And شَقَأَهُ, (S, K,) inf. n. شَقْءٌ, (S,) He hit his مَشْقَأ, i. e. the place of the parting of the hair of his head, (S, K,) with a staff, or stick. (S.)
