شَرْحُ رِيَاضِ الصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ كَلَامِ سَيِّدِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا، إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا، وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا، إِلَّا الْمُصَلِّينَ، الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ، وَفِي آخِرِ الْأَوْصَافِ الْحَمِيدَةِ قَالَ: وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ. وَبِهَذَا يُعْرَفُ أَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ أَعْظَمُ الْأَعْمَالِ بَعْدَ الشَّهَادَتَيْنِ، شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، جَعَلَنَا اللَّهُ مِنْ مُقِيمِي الصَّلَاةِ، وَمُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةِ، الْمُحَافِظِينَ عَلَى أَدَاءِ فَرَائِضِ اللَّهِ وَاجْتِنَابِ مَحَارِمِ اللَّهِ.

A commentary on Riyadh as-Salihin, drawn from the teachings of the Master of Messengers, peace and blessings be upon him.
إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا، إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا، وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا، إِلَّا الْمُصَلِّينَ، الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ، وَفِي آخِرِ الْأَوْصَافِ الْحَمِيدَةِ قَالَ: وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ.
Humanity was created anxious; prone to despair when touched by hardship and stingy when blessed with good fortune. The exceptions are those who pray, remaining steadfast in their devotion. Regarding these noble traits, God says: Those who are diligent in their prayers.
وَبِهَذَا يُعْرَفُ أَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ أَعْظَمُ الْأَعْمَالِ بَعْدَ الشَّهَادَتَيْنِ، شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، جَعَلَنَا اللَّهُ مِنْ مُقِيمِي الصَّلَاةِ، وَمُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةِ، الْمُحَافِظِينَ عَلَى أَدَاءِ فَرَائِضِ اللَّهِ وَاجْتِنَابِ مَحَارِمِ اللَّهِ.
This confirms that prayer is the greatest deed after the two testimonies of faith—that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger. May Allah count us among those who establish prayer, pay zakat, uphold His commands, and shun what He has forbidden.
