Training Unit Five.

كَتَبَ عَمْرُو بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ - وَزِيرُ الْمَأْمُونِ - إِلَى الْمَأْمُونِ فِي رُقْعَةٍ: أَمَّا بَعْدُ: فَإِنَّ فُلَانًا سَأَلَنِي أَنْ أَشْفَعَ لَهُ إِلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَبْلُغْ عِنْدَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَبْلَغَ الشَّفَاعَةِ.

Amr ibn Mas'adah, al-Ma'mun's vizier, wrote a note to the Caliph: "To proceed: So-and-so has asked me to intercede on his behalf with the Commander of the Faithful. I told him that I have not attained the status required to intercede with the Commander of the Faithful."

فَلَمَّا وَصَلَتِ الرُّقْعَةُ إِلَى الْمَأْمُونِ وَقَّعَ عَلَيْهَا بِخَطِّهِ: قَدْ فَهِمْنَا تَصْرِيحَكَ بِهِ، وَتَعْرِيضَكَ بِنَفْسِكَ، وَأَجَبْنَاكَ إِلَيْهِمَا، وَأَتْحَفْنَاكَ بِهِمَا.
