أَضْوَاءٌ مِنَ الْمَوْلِدِ السَّعِيدِ.

Lights of the blessed birth.

صَدَقْتَ.

You are right.

وَقَدْ بَقِيَ هَدْيُ تَعَالِيمِهِ مُتَجَدِّدَ النُّورِ، يَوْمًا بَعْدَ يَوْمٍ، كَمَا يَتَجَدَّدُ نُورُ الشَّمْسِ، نَهَارًا بَعْدَ نَهَارٍ.

The guidance of his teachings remains as luminous as ever, day after day, just as the sun renews its light each morning.

وَقَدْ أَنَارَ مِنْ غَيَاهِبِ الْفِكْرِ، وَظُلُمَاتِ الْجَهْلِ، أَضْعَافَ مَا تُذِيرُ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ ظُلُمَاتِ الْكَوْنِ.

He cast light into the depths of thought and the darkness of ignorance, far more than the sun dispels the shadows of the world.

وَكَانَ لِلْبِذْرَةِ الصَّالِحَةِ - الَّتِي غَرَسَهَا بِيَدِهِ الْكَرِيمَةِ، وَتَعَهَّدَ نَمَاءَهَا بِجِهَادِهِ وَجِهَادِ صَحَابَتِهِ الْأَطْهَارِ - ثَمَرٌ يَانِعٌ.

The good seed he planted with his own generous hand, and nurtured through his efforts and those of his pure companions, bore ripe fruit.

وَكَانَ مِنْ ثَمَرَاتِ هَذِهِ النَّوَاةِ الطَّيِّبَةِ أَنْ بَسَقَتْ وَلِيدَاتُهَا مِنَ الْأَشْجَارِ، فِي أَقَاصِي الْأَرْضِ، حَتَّى عَمَّتِ الْبِلَادَ وَالْأَمْصَارَ.

From this noble core, saplings grew and spread to the farthest reaches of the earth, eventually covering lands and cities far and wide.

إِنَّ كُلَّ ذِكْرَى مِنْ ذِكْرَيَاتِ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ السَّعِيدِ لَتَحْمِلُ مِنْ جَلِيلِ الْمَعَانِي مَا لَا تَنْهَضُ بِتَصْوِيرِهِ أَشْرَفُ أَلْوَانِ الْفَصَاحَةِ الْعَالِيَةِ.

Every memory of this blessed day carries such profound meaning that even the most eloquent language cannot fully capture it.

مِيلَادُ الرَّسُولِ.

The birth of the Messenger.

كَانَ الْعَامُ الْحَادِي وَالسَّبْعُونَ بَعْدَ الْخَمْسِمَائَةِ مِنَ الْمِيلَادِ ٥٧١م، أَشْهَرَ مَا عَرَفَتْهُ الدُّنْيَا قَاطِبَةً.

The year 571 AD is the most celebrated year the world has ever known.

لَا عَجَبَ فِي ذَلِكَ؛ فَقَدْ وُلِدَ فِيهِ الرَّسُولُ الْأَمِينُ.

This is no surprise, for it was the year the trustworthy Messenger was born.

وُلِدَ فِيهِ أَكْرَمُ خَلْقِ اللَّهِ، فَكَانَ أَكْرَمَ الْأَعْوَامِ.

The noblest of God's creation was born then, making it the most noble of years.

وَكَانَ، إِلَى ذَلِكَ، حَافِلًا بِأَلْوَانٍ مِنَ الْغَرَائِبِ.

It was also a year filled with extraordinary events.

عَامُ الْفِيلِ.

The Year of the Elephant.

كَانَ أَغْرَبَ مَا حَفَلَ بِهِ هَذَا الْعَامُ حَادِثُ «أَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ».

The most remarkable event of that year was the incident of the 'People of the Elephant'.

إِنَّهُ حَادِثٌ مَعْرُوفٌ، ذَائِعُ الصِّيتِ، وَلَكِنِّي طَالَمَا سَاءَلْتُ نَفْسِي: مَنْ هُمْ «أَصْحَابُ الْفِيلِ»؟

It is a well-known story, yet I have often asked myself: Who were these 'People of the Elephant'?

أَبْرَهَةُ الْحَبَشِيُّ.

Abraha the Abyssinian.

جَيْشُ «أَبْرَهَةَ الْحَبَشِيِّ» الَّذِينَ عَقَدُوا عَزْمَهُمْ عَلَى هَدْمِ «الْكَعْبَةِ».

The army of Abraha the Abyssinian, who were determined to demolish the Kaaba.

أَيُّ غَايَةٍ لَئِيمَةٍ هَدَفُوا إِلَى بُلُوغِهَا!

What a wicked goal they sought to achieve!
