أَقْوَالُ أَئِمَّةِ الْعُلَمَاءِ الْأَعْلَامِ وَآرَاءُ الْأَسَاتِذَةِ الْكِبَارِ فِي كِتَابِ جَوَاهِرِ الْبَلَاغَةِ.

The words of leading scholars and the views of distinguished professors regarding the book Jewels of Rhetoric.

وَكَتَبَ الْمَرْحُومُ أُسْتَاذُنَا الْحَكِيمُ الْإِمَامُ الشَّيْخُ مُحَمَّدٌ عَبْدُهُ مُفْتِي الدِّيَارِ الْمِصْرِيَّةِ:

The late professor, the wise Imam Sheikh Muhammad Abduh, Mufti of Egypt, wrote:

اطَّلَعْتُ عَلَى كِتَابِ جَوَاهِرِ الْبَلَاغَةِ فِي عُلُومِ الْمَعَانِي وَالْبَيَانِ وَالْبَدِيعِ وَالسَّرِقَاتِ الشِّعْرِيَّةِ، فَوَجَدْتُهُ كِتَابًا عَظِيمًا، وَأُسْلُوبًا حَكِيمًا، يَشْهَدُ لِحَضْرَةِ مُؤَلِّفِهِ الْفَاضِلِ بِمَلَاكِ الذَّوْقِ السَّلِيمِ، وَالْعَقْلِ الْحَكِيمِ، هَدَاهُ اللَّهُ إِلَى الصِّرَاطِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ

I have examined the book Jewels of Rhetoric, covering the sciences of semantics, eloquence, literary innovation, and poetic borrowing. I found it a masterful work, written with wisdom, reflecting the author’s refined taste and sound intellect. May God guide him to the straight path.

صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ.

The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.

وَكَتَبَ أَخُونَا الْأُسْتَاذُ الشَّيْخُ أَحْمَدُ الْكِنَانِيُّ الْمُدَرِّسُ فِي الْمَدْرَسَةِ التَّوْفِيقِيَّةِ:

Our brother, Professor Sheikh Ahmed Al-Kinani, a teacher at the Tawfiqiyya School, wrote:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الْبَدِيعِ صُنْعُهُ الْحَكِيمِ وَضْعُهُ الْوَاهِبِ مَنْ شَاءَ مَا شَاءَ مِنْ نِعَمِهِ الْمُفِيضِ عَلَى مَنْ اصْطَفَاهُمْ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَابِلَ فَضْلِهِ وَكَرَمِهِ نَشْكُرُهُ هَدَانَا بِفَضْلِهِ الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ.

Praise be to God, whose creation is wondrous and whose design is wise. He bestows His blessings upon whom He wills and showers His chosen servants with the abundance of His grace and generosity. We thank Him for guiding us, by His favor, to the straight path.

صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ حَازُوا فَضْلَ الْعِلْمِ وَالتَّعْلِيمِ وَنُصَلِّي وَنُسَلِّمُ عَلَى أَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمَبْعُوثِ بِمِلَّةِ أَبِيهِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ ذِي الْمَقَامِ الْأَسْمَى الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ فِي مُحْكَمِ كِتَابِهِ وَقُلْ رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا.

This is the path of those who have attained the virtue of learning and teaching. We offer prayers and peace upon the father of Ibrahim, the one sent with the faith of his forefather Ibrahim, our master Muhammad, who holds the highest station and to whom it was revealed in the precise verses of the Book, Say, My Lord, increase me in knowledge.

وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ وَأَتْبَاعِهِ الَّذِينَ اجْتَمَعَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَقَوَالِبُهُمْ عَلَى حُبِّهِ وَاتِّبَاعِهِ.

Peace also be upon his family, his companions, and his followers, whose hearts and lives are united in their love and devotion to him.

أَمَّا بَعْدُ: فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الْكُتُبِ مَا عَمَّ نَفْعُهُ وَحَسُنَ لَدَى الْعُقَلَاءِ وَضْعُهُ

To proceed: The best of books are those that provide widespread benefit and are held in high regard by the wise.

وَكَانَ مُتْقَنَ الْبَيَانِ وَاضِحَ الْحُجَّةِ قَوِيَّ الْبُرْهَانِ وَإِنَّ كِتَابَ جَوَاهِرِ الْبَلَاغَةِ لَمِنْ خَيْرِ الْكُتُبِ وَضْعًا، وَأَحْسَنِهَا اخْتِيَارًا، وَصُنْعًا لِمُؤَلِّفِهِ الْفَاضِلِ الْأُسْتَاذِ السَّيِّدِ أَحْمَدَ الْهَاشِمِيِّ

Such works are masterful in expression, clear in argument, and strong in proof. The book Jewels of Rhetoric is among the finest in its composition, selection, and craftsmanship, authored by the virtuous Professor Sayyid Ahmed Al-Hashimi.

فَإِنَّ لِحَضْرَتِهِ مِنْ التَّأْلِيفِ الْعَدِيدَةِ وَالتَّصَانِيفِ الْمُفِيدَةِ مَا تَقَرُّ بِهِ أَعْيُنُ النَّاطِقِينَ بِالضَّادِ وَيُفْحِمُ بِمُعْجِزَاتِهِ كُلَّ مُضَادٍّ

He has produced numerous useful works that delight the eyes of all who speak the Arabic language and silence any detractor with their brilliance.

لَا سِيَّمَا هَذَا السِّفْرُ الْجَلِيلُ الَّذِي جَاءَ دَلِيلًا عَلَى إِخْلَاصِهِ النِّيَّةَ لِأَبْنَاءِ أُمَّتِهِ وَبُرْهَانًا سَاطِعًا عَلَى وَفَائِهِ وَحُسْنِ طَوِيَّتِهِ.

This majestic volume, in particular, stands as evidence of his sincere dedication to his people and a shining proof of his loyalty and noble character.

فَقَدْ حَقَّقَ وَدَقَّقَ - فَلَا غَرَابَةَ إِذَا احْتَاجَ إِلَيْهِ كُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ لِمَا فِيهِ مِنْ مُرَاعَاةِ النَّظِيرِ وَحُسْنِ الْبَيَانِ

He has verified and scrutinized his work with such precision that it is no surprise that everyone finds it essential, given its careful attention to detail and its elegant expression.

فَاللَّهُ أَسْأَلُ أَنْ يَنْفَعَ بِالْمُؤَلِّفِ وَالْمُؤَلَّفِ الْعِبَادَ وَيَجْعَلَهُ بِفَضْلِهِ كَنْزًا وَذُخْرًا بَعْدَ أَنْ جَمَعَ فِيهِ مَا تَفَرَّقَ إِلَى الْمَعَادِ.

I ask God to benefit mankind through both the author and his work, and by His grace, to make this book a lasting treasure, for he has gathered within it what was once scattered, until the Day of Resurrection.
