Water and tears flow, they flow himyan, with fath, and humiyyan, like saliya; and this is from Ibn Sidah; and himyanan, with harakah; and Al-Jauhari limited himself to the latter; meaning they flowed.
وقال ابن الأعرابي: هما وعمى كل ذلك إذا سال؛ قال مساور بن هند: حتى إذا لقحتها تقمم واحتملت أرحامها منه دما من آيل الماء الذي كان همى
And Ibn Al-A'rabi said: Hama and 'ama, all of that is when it flows; Masawir bin Hind said: Until when she conceived it, it became firm and her wombs carried blood from the flowing water that had flowed.
همت العين تهمي هميا وهميا وهميانا: صبت دمعها؛ عن اللحياني؛ وقيل: سال دمعها؛ وكذلك كل سائل من مطر؛ ومنه قول الشاعر: فسقى ديارك غير مفسدها صوب الربيع وديمة تهمي
The eye shed tears, it sheds tears himyan and humiyyan and himyanan: it poured its tears; from Al-Lihyani; and it was said: its tears flowed; and likewise everything that flows from rain; and from this is the poet's saying: May the spring rain and a pouring drizzle water your dwelling without spoiling it.
تهمي يعني تسيل وتذهب.

And it has gone astray, it goes astray himyan: if it wanders aimlessly on the earth, neglected without a shepherd or keeper, then it is haamiyah.
وفي الحديث: أن رجلا سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: إنا نصيب هوامي الإبل، فقال: ضالة المؤمن حرق النار
And in the hadith: A man asked the Prophet, peace be upon him, and said: We find lost camels, and he said: The lost property of a believer is fuel for the Fire.
وقال أبو عبيدة: الهوامي الإبل المهملة بلا راع: ناقة هامية، وبعير هام، وكل ذاهب وجار من حيوان أو ماء فهو هام؛ ومنه هما المطر، ولعله مقلوب هام يهيم.
And Abu Ubaidah said: Al-hawami are neglected camels without a shepherd: a straying she-camel, a wandering camel, and everything that goes and moves of animals or water is haam; and from this is the flowing of rain, and perhaps it is an inversion of haam which means to wander.
والهميان، بالكسر: شداد السراويل؛ كذا في المحكم.
And al-himyan, with kasr: the tighteners of trousers; as stated in Al-Muhkam.
قال الجوهري: معرب. وقال أبو الهيثم: الهميان المنطقة كن يشددن به أحقيهن، وبه فسر قول الجعدي: مثل هميان العذارى بطنه يلهز الروض بنقعان النفل
Al-Jauhari said: It is a loanword. And Abu Al-Haytham said: Al-himyan is the sash with which women tighten their waists, and with this he interpreted the saying of Al-Ju'di: Like the sash of virgins, its belly presses the meadow with the scent of clover.
ويثلث، واقتصر الجوهري على الكسر والضم، فعلى الكسر يكون من هميان النفقة أو المنطقة؛ وعلى الضم: كأنه جمع بعير هام كراع ورعيان، أو اسم من همى كعثمان من عثم؛ وعلى الفتح: اسم من همى كسحبان من سحب.
And it is triliterated, and Al-Jauhari limited himself to kasr and damma. So with kasr it is from himyan for expenses or a sash; and with damma: it is as if it is the plural of a straying camel, like ra'in and ru'yan, or a name from hama like Uthman from 'athama; and with fath: a name from hama like Suhban from sahaba.
وإن امرأ أمسى ودون حبيبه سواس فوادي الرس فالهميان لمعترف بالنأي بعد اقترابه ومعذورة عيناه بالهملان
And a man spent the night, and between him and his beloved was the valley of Al-Ris, and Al-Himyan, he confessed to distance after approaching, and his eyes were excused for shedding tears.
قال أبو سعيد: الهميان واد به قوائم شاخصة، وهي قوائم من صخر خلقها اللها تعالى، وإنهم يبردون الماء عليها فيبرد ويفرط، وكان ينشد قول الأحول الكندي: فليت لنا من ماء زمزم شربة مبردة باتت على الهميان
Abu Sa'id said: Al-Himyan is a valley with standing rocks, which are rocks created by God Almighty, and they cool water on them, so it becomes very cold, and he used to recite the saying of Al-Ahwal Al-Kindi: If only we had a drink from the water of Zamzam, cooled overnight on Al-Himyan.
ويقال: هما والله لقد كان كذا بمعنى أما والله؛ عن الفراء.
And it is said: Hama wallah, it was so, meaning amma wallah; from Al-Farra'.
الأهماء: المياه السائلة.
Al-ahma': flowing waters.
وكل شيء ضاع عنك: فقد هما؛ عن ابن السكيت.
And everything that is lost to you: it has hama; from Ibn Al-Sikkit.
وهما، مقصور: اسم صنم؛ عن الليث.
And Hama, defective: the name of an idol; from Al-Layth.
وهماء؛ بالضم والمد وقد يكتب بالياء في آخره؛ هو العقاب، أو طائر آخر من وقع ظله عليه صار ملكا، تتخذ الملوك من ريشه في تيجانهم لعزته، وكأنها فارسية.
And Hama; with damma and madd, and it may be written with a ya at the end; it is the eagle, or another bird whose shadow falls upon someone making them a king, and kings take from its feathers for their crowns due to its prestige, and it is as if it is Persian.
والهماء، كسماء موضع بين مكة والطائف، نقله السكري في شرح شعر هذيل؛ وأنشد أبو الحسن المهلبي للنميري: فأصبحن ما بين الهماء فصاعدا إلى الجزع جزع الماء ذي العشرات
And Al-Himaa, like samaa', is a place between Mecca and Taif, narrated by Al-Sukkari in his commentary on the poetry of Hudhayl; and Abu Al-Hasan Al-Muhallabi recited for Al-Numayri: So they became between Al-Himaa and upwards to Al-Jaza', the valley of water with the tens.
