وهي الحاضرة، وناحية وناحاة: (قصاص الشعر) في مقدم الرأس، والجمع} النواصي

وشاهد! الناصاة قول حريث بن عتاب الطائي: لقد آذنت أهل اليمامة طيىء بحرب {كناصاة الحصان المشهر
And the proof for 'al-nasiyah' is the saying of Hurayth ibn 'Atab al-Ta'i: 'Indeed, Tayyi has declared war to the people of Yamamah with a war like the forelock of a prominent horse.'
ناصيته مقدم رأسه أي لنهصرنها لنأخذن بها أي لنقيمنه ولنذلنه
His forelock is the front of his head, meaning 'We will surely seize it, we will surely take it,' meaning 'We will make him stand and humiliate him.'
الناصية في كلام العرب منبت الشعر في مقدم الرأس لا الشعر الذي تسميه العامة {الناصية، وسمي الشعر} ناصية لنباته من ذلك الموضع
The 'nasiyah' in the speech of the Arabs is the growth of hair at the front of the head, not the hair that the common people call 'nasiyah'; and the hair is named 'nasiyah' because of its growth from that place.
وقيل في قوله تعالى: {لنسفعن بالناصية} ، أي لنسودن وجهه بكفت الناصية لأنها في مقدم الوجه من الوجه
And it was said regarding the Almighty's saying: 'We will surely seize by the forelock,' meaning 'We will blacken his face with the forelock because it is at the front of the face.'
والدليل على ذلك قول الشاعر: وكنت إذا نفس الغوي نزت به سفعت على العرنين منه بميسم
And the evidence for that is the poet's saying: 'And when the desire of the misguided stirred him, I struck his nose with a brand.'
وقوله تعالى: {ما من دابة إلا هو آخذ {بناصيتها}
And the Almighty's saying: 'There is no creature but He is seizing it by its forelock.'
أي في قبضته تناله بما شاء قدرته، وهو سبحانه لا يشاء إلا العدل
Meaning, in His grasp, He can reach it with whatever His power wills, and He, Glorified, wills nothing but justice.
وقبض {بناصيته) ؛ وفي الصحاح: على} ناصيته
And he seized him by his forelock; and in Al-Sihah: 'on his forelock.'
أنه قال للحسين، رضي اللها تعالى عنهم، حين أراد العراق: لولا أني أكره {لنصوتك، أي أخذت} بناصيتك ولم أدعك تخرج
That he said to Al-Husayn, may God be pleased with them, when he intended to go to Iraq: 'Were it not that I dislike to seize you by your forelock and prevent you from leaving.'
علام} تنصون ميتكم) ، أرادت أن الميت لا يحتاج إلى تسريح الرأس، وذلك بمنزلة {الناصية
'Why do you arrange your dead?' She meant that the deceased does not need hair combing, and that is like the forelock.
أي علام تمدون} ناصيته، كأنها كرهت تسريح رأس الميت
Meaning, 'Why do you extend his forelock?' as if she disliked combing the hair of the deceased.
نصت (المفازة) } تنصو {نصوا: (اتصلت
'Nassat' (the desert) 'tansu' 'nasswan': (it connected).
نصا (الثوب) {نصوا. (كشفه) ، كأنه لغة في نضا بالضاد كما سيأتي
'Nassa' (the garment) 'nasswan'. (He uncovered it), as if it were a variant of 'nadhā' with the letter Dhad, as will come later.
مناصاة} ونصاء) ، بالكسر، ( {نصوته} ونصاني) ، أي جاذبته فأخذ كل منا {بناصية صاحبه
'Munāsāh' and 'nisā'' (with kasrah), 'nasawtuhu' and 'nasānī', meaning 'I pulled him and he pulled me,' so each of us took his companion's forelock.
والمناصاة {والنصاء الأحذ} بالنواصي، انتهى
And 'al-munāsāh' and 'al-nisā'' are the seizing by the forelocks, end quote.
خليعا تناصيه أمور جلائل
A reckless one, great matters pull him by his forelock.
ناصيته جذبت ناصيته: وأنشد
His forelock: I pulled his forelock: and he recited.
قلال مجد فرعت آصاصا وعزة قعساء لن تناصى
Peaks of glory you have reached, and a proud, strong woman who will not be pulled by the forelock.
لم تكن واحدة من نساء النبي، صلى الله عليه وسلم {تناصيني غير زينب) ، أي تنازعني وتباريني، وهو أن يأخذ كل واحد من المتنازعين} بناصية الآخر
'None of the Prophet's wives, peace be upon him, would compete with me except Zaynab,' meaning 'she would contend with me and vie with me,' which is when each of the two contenders takes the other by the forelock.
أعباس لو كانت شيارا جيادنا بتثليث ما! ناصيت بعدي الأحامسا
O Abbas, if our fine horses were spirited in Thulath, I would not have been pulled by the forelock after me by the Ahmas.
لمن طلل} بالمنتصى غير حائل عفا بعد عهد من قطار ووابل؟
For whom is a ruin in the upper part of the two valleys, not changing, faded after a period of rain and downpour?
وإبل {ناصية: ارتفعت في المرعى) ، عن ابن الأعرابي
And 'nasiyah' camels: they have grown tall in their grazing, from Ibn Al-A'rabi.
يقال إني لأجد} نصوا، قال
It is said, 'Indeed, I find an unease,' he said.
وإني لأجد في بطني} نصوا ووخزا أي وجعا
And indeed, I find in my stomach an unease and a prickling, meaning pain.
وجدت في بطني {نصوا وحصوا وقبصا بمعنى واحد
I found in my stomach 'nasswan', 'hasswan', and 'qabsan', meaning the same thing.
ونواصي الناس: أشرافهم) ، كما يقال للسفلة الأذناب، وأنشد الجوهري لأم قبيس الظبية وأنشد
And the 'nawasi' of people: their nobles, just as it is said for the lowlifes, the tails, and Al-Jawhari recited for Umm Qubays al-Dhubiyyah and recited.
في مجمع من} نواصي الناس مشهود
In a gathering of the nobles of the people, witnessed.
ويقال: هو {ناصية قومه، وهو من} ناصيتهم ونواصيهم
And it is said: 'He is the forelock of his people,' and he is from their forelocks and their nobles.
هذه الفلاة! تناصي أرض كذا: أي تتصل بها
This desert! It connects to such-and-such land: meaning it is connected to it.
ونصت الماشطة المرأة} ونصتها: سرحت شعرها {فتنصت هي؛ ومنه الحديث: (فأمرها أن} تنصى وتكتحل)
And 'nassat' the hairdresser the woman and 'nassatahā': she combed her hair, so she arranged herself; and from it is the hadith: 'So He commanded her to arrange herself and apply kohl.'
أي {تتنصى؛ وبه روي حديث عائشة أيضا: (مالكم} تنصون ميتكم)
Meaning 'tatansā'; and by this is also narrated the hadith of Aisha: 'Why do you arrange your dead?'
ونصوت الشيء بالشيء: وصلته؛ عن ابن القطاع، يتعدى ولا يتعدى
And 'nasawtu al-shay' bi al-shay': I connected it; from Ibn Al-Qatta', it is transitive and intransitive.
وأذل} ناصية فلان أي عزه وشرفه، وهو مجاز
And 'azalla nasiyata fulan' means his honor and nobility, and it is a metaphor.
وتناصيا: تواخنا بالنواصي
And 'tanāsayā': they became brothers by their forelocks.
