Al-luqwah, with fatha: a disease in the face; Al-Azhari added: the corner of the mouth becomes crooked from it.
Al-luqwah is a disease by which one side of the face is drawn to an unnatural direction, and the meeting of the lips is not good, and one of the eyes does not close.
It is said from it: the man was afflicted, as in 'aniya, with luqan.
Laqiya, as in 'adiya, luqwatan, so he is mulqawwan: he was afflicted with al-luqwah.
And I laqawtuhu: I caused that to happen to him;
And al-luqwah, and it can be with kasra: the woman who is quick to conceive like a she-camel,
And she is the one who conceives on the first attempt, and likewise the horse,
The fatha is for the woman and the she-camel, from Ibn Al-A'rabi, and it is the most eloquent;
And the kasra is for the she-camel from Ibn Al-A'rabi, and for the woman from Al-Farra';
And he recited: She carried three and gave birth to twins, so she is the mother of Luqwah and Abu Qabis is the father.
And its proverb is: Luqwah encountered Qabis, it is said for the quick agreement of two siblings in affection and love,
And Al-Qabis: the stallion quick to impregnate, meaning there is no delay for them in producing offspring.
And Al-luqwah: the female eagle,
With fatha and kasra from Al-Jauhari.
And in the book of Al-Qali: Al-luqwah, with kasra: the eagle, and it may also be said with fatha.
And Abu Ubaidah said: It was named luqwah for the wideness of its beak.
Or it is the light, swift one that snatches;
Plural: liqa', from Al-Umavi;
And alqa', the latter is by omitting the extra letter and is not standard.
And Dhu Al-Luqwah: the eagle of Al-Ghadani Al-Tamimi from the Banu Ghudanah bin Yarbu' bin Hanzalah bin Malik bin Zayd Manah bin Tamim, he is mentioned.
And among what is to be added: a luqwah bucket: soft, it does not expand quickly due to its softness;
The poet said: The worst of buckets is the clinging luqwah, and the young she-camels, their worst is the fasting one.
And Al-Qali, Ibn Barri narrated it from Al-Mahlabi.
