Abu Bakr bin Al-Anbari said: Kara' is a pass in Taif, on it is the road to Mecca, it is extended.
وَتَمَضْمَضَ الكَرَى فِي عَيْنَيْهِ
And sleepiness welled up in his eyes.
وَمِنْهُ الحَدِيثُ: لَعَلَّكَ بَلَغْتَ مَعَهُمُ الكَرَى
And from it is the Hadith: Perhaps you reached the graves with them.
وَالكَرْوُ فِي الخَيْلِ: أَنْ يَخْبِطَ بِيَدِهِ فِي اسْتِقَامَةٍ لَا يُقْبِلُهَا نَحْوَ بَطْنِهِ، وَهُوَ عَيْبٌ يَكُونُ خِلْقَةً
And Al-Karw in horses: is that it strikes with its foreleg straightly towards its belly, and it is a defect that is congenital.
وَيُقَالُ فِي زَجْرِ الدِّيكِ: كَرِّيَا دِيكَ
And in the scaring of a rooster, it is said: 'Kiriya, O rooster!'
