قيل: أي بمعنى مع كقوله تعالى: {ادخلوا في أمم} ؛ وقوله تعالى: {في أصحاب الجنة} ، أي معهم.
It is said: meaning 'with', as in God's saying: 'Enter into nations'; and God's saying: 'With the companions of Paradise', meaning with them.
أن باء المصاحبة لاستدامة المصاحبة ومع لابتدائها.
That the 'ba' of accompaniment is for the continuation of accompaniment, and 'ma' (meaning 'with') is for its beginning.
ولأصلبنكم في جذوع النخل
And I will crucify you in palm trunks
وزعم يونس أن العرب تقول: نزلت في أبيك، يريدون عليه؛ نقله الجوهري.
And Yunus claimed that the Arabs say: 'It descended upon your father', meaning 'on him'; Jauhari transmitted it.
بطل كأن ثيابه في سرحة يحذى نعال السبت ليس بتوأم
A hero, as if his clothes were in a shrub, wearing sandals of سبت, not a twin.

يعثرن في حد الظبات كأنما كسيت برود بني تزيد الأذرع
They stumble at the edge of the sword blades as if they were clothed in the robes of Banu Zayd, the arms.
نلوذ في أم لنا ما تعتصب من الغمام ترتدي وتنتقب
We seek refuge in our mother, which is not to be clung to, from the clouds, wearing and veiling.
ويركب يوم الروع فيها فوارس بصيرون في طعن الأباهر والكلى
And on the day of battle, brave men ride in it, skilled in stabbing the jugular veins and kidneys.
فردوا أيديهم في أفواههم
And they put their hands into their mouths
قال الزجاج: أي من تسع آيات؛ ومثله قولهم: خذ لي عشرا من الإبل فيها فحلان، أي منها.
Al-Zajjaj said: meaning 'from nine signs'; and similar is their saying: 'Take for me ten camels, among them are two studs', meaning from them.
وجعل القمر فيهن نورا
And made the moon a light among them
فما متاع الحياة الدنيا في الآخرة إلا قليل
But the worldly life, in the Hereafter, is [but] a little
وقال اركبوا فيها
And [Noah] said, 'Embark therein'
يا فيما مالي أفعل كذا
Oh, what a thing it is that I do such and such
قال الكسائي: لا تهمز ومعناها يا عجبي مالي
Al-Kisa'i said: it is not hamzated and its meaning is 'Oh, my wonder, what is wrong with me?'
