تَجِيءُ البَقَرَةُ وَآلُ عِمْرَانَ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ كَأَنَّهُمَا غَمَامَتَانِ أَوْ غِيَايَتَانِ
The Cow and Al-Imran will come on the Day of Resurrection as if they were two clouds or two shades.
وَهُوَ كَثِيبٌ قُرْبَهَا فِي دِيَارِ قَيْسِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ
And it is a sand dune near it, in the lands of Qays bin Tha'labah.

وَأَلِفُهُ وَاوٌ وَتَأْلِيفُهُ مِنْ غَيْنٍ وَيَاءَيْنِ.
And its alif is waw, and its composition is from ghayn and two yās.

سَابَقَ بَيْنَ الخَيْلِ فَجَعَلَ غَايَةَ المُضْمَرَةِ كَذَا

قَدْ بِتُّ سَامِرَهَا وَغَايَةُ تَاجِرٍ وَافَيْتُ إِذْ رُفِعَتْ وَعَزَّ مَدَامُهَا
I spent the night conversing with its company, and the banner of a merchant I reached when it was raised, and its wine was precious.
وَكَذَلِكَ رَبَّيْتُهَا إِذَا نَصَبْتَ الرَّايَةَ.
And likewise I raised it if you erect the banner.
وَذُو حَوْمَلٍ أَغْيَا عَلَيْهِ وَأُغَيِّمَا
And the owner of a herd of camels provided shade for him and was shaded.
وَغَيَّى لِلْقَوْمِ: نَصَبَ لَهُمْ غَايَةً، أَوْ عَمِلَهَا لَهُمْ.
And he 'ghayyā' for the people: he set up a goal for them, or made it for them.
وَأَغْيَاهَا: نَصَبَهَا.
And he 'aghyāhā': he set it up.
وَالْغَيَايَةُ: السَّحَابَةُ المُنْفَرِدَةُ، أَوْ الوَاقِعَةُ.

وَتَغَايَتَ الطَّيْرُ عَلَى الشَّيْءِ: حَامَتْ.

وَغَايَتُكَ أَنْ تَفْعَلَ كَذَا: أَيْ نِهَايَةُ طَاقَتِكَ أَوْ فِعْلِكَ.
And your limit is to do such and such: meaning the end of your capacity or your action.
وَرَجُلٌ غَيَّاءٌ: ثَقِيلُ الرُّوحِ كَأَنَّهُ ظِلٌّ مُظْلِمٌ مُتَكَاثِفٌ لَا إِشْرَاقَ فِيهِ.
And a man 'ghayyā': heavy-spirited, as if he were a dark, dense shadow without brightness.
وَأَغْيَا الرَّجُلُ: بَلَغَ الغَايَةَ فِي الشَّرَفِ، وَالأَمْرِ.
And a man 'aghyā': he reached the limit in honor and in the matter.
وَأَغْيَا الفَرَسُ فِي سِبَاقِهِ، كَذَلِكَ؛ عَنِ ابْنِ القَطَّاعِ.
And the horse ran fast in its race, likewise; from Ibn al-Qatta'.
وَقَوْلُهُمْ: المُغَيَّا، كَمُعَظَّمٍ، لِانْتِهَاءِ الغَايَةِ، هَكَذَا يَقُولُهُ الفُقَهَاءُ وَالأُصُولِيُّونَ، وَهِيَ لُغَةٌ مُوَلَّدَةٌ.
And their saying: al-mughayyā, like mu'aẓẓam, for the end of the limit, thus the jurists and usulists say it, and it is a generated language.
