وركا الأمر ركوا: (أصلح) ؛ قال الشاعر:

And rakā the matter, rakwan: (to repair); a poet said:

وأمرك إلا تركه متفاقم

And your affair, unless you leave it, will worsen

قال الأزهري: أي لا تصلحه.

Al-Azhari said: meaning, do not repair it.

ركا (عليه) ؛ وفي المحكم: عنه؛ (أثنى) عليه ثناء (قبيحا).

Rakā (upon him); and in Al-Muhkam: from him; (to praise) him with (ugly) praise.

أسمعه مكروها أو زجره بقبيح.

قال الأزهري: كذا روي بضم الألف أي أخروهما.

Al-Azhari said: Thus it is narrated with damma on the alif, meaning, postpone them.

ويروى اتركوا، من الترك؛ ويروى أيضا: ارهكوا.

And it is narrated 'atrukū', from 'al-tark'; and it is also narrated: 'irhakū'.

كأركى فيهما يقال: {أركى عنه وعليه: إذا أثنى قبيحا.

Like arkā in both: it is said, {arkā from him and upon him: if he praises him negatively.

وأركى الأمر: أخره؛ وبه روي أيضا الحديث المذكور.

And arkā the matter: to delay it; and by this the mentioned hadith is also narrated.

ويقال للغريم} أركني إلى كذا، أي أخرني.
