I say: Banu Jari ibn 'Awf are a clan from Judham, and the nisba to them is Jarwi, with harakat; among them: Uthman ibn Suwayd ibn Mundhir ibn Diab ibn Jari from Masruh ibn Sindar, and from him his grandson Simak ibn Nu'aym.
أجرت الشجرة: صارت فيها الجراء؛ عن الأصمعي.

والجروة: النفس. يقال: ضرب عليه {جروته أي نفسه.
And al-jarwah: the soul. It is said: he imposed his jarwah upon it, meaning his self.
قال ابن بري: قال أبو عمرو: يقال ضربت عن ذلك الأمر} جروتي، أي اطمأنت نفسي؛ وأنشد:
Ibn Birri said: Abu 'Amr said: It is said 'I imposed my jarwah from that matter', meaning my soul became calm; and he recited:
ضربت بأكناف اللوى عنك جروتي وعلقت أخرى لا تخون المواصلا
I settled my soul away from you in the hills of Al-Lawa, and attached another that does not betray connections.
ويقال: ضربت جروتي عنه وضربت جروتي عليه، أي صبرت عنه وصبرت عليه. ويقال: ألقى فلان جروته إذا صبر على الأمر.
And it is said: I imposed my soul away from it and imposed my soul upon it, meaning I endured it and endured it. And it is said: So-and-so cast off his jarwah when he endured the matter.
قال الزمخشري: وأصله أن قانصا ضرب كلبته على الصيد فقيل: ضرب جروته فصير مثلا.
Al-Zamakhshari said: And its origin is that a hunter set his dog upon the prey, so it was said: he struck its jarwah, and it became a proverb.
وجرو البطحاء: لقب ربيعة بن عبد العزى بن عبد شمس بن عبد مناف؛ نقله الجوهري.
And Jarw Al-Butha: a title of Rabi'ah ibn 'Abd Al-'Uzza ibn 'Abd Shams ibn 'Abd Manaf; Al-Jauhari transmitted this.

And Al-Jarawi, with dammah: water; Ibn Al-A'rabi recited:
