Ibn al-A'rabi said: It means to delay in work, doing something after something else; Al-Azhari specifically transmitted this.
وأترى: عمل أعمالا متواترة بين كل عملين فترة
And 'atry: he performed successive actions with an interval between each two actions.
الترية، كغنية: في بقية حيض المرأة أقل من الصفرة والكدرة، وأخفى، تراها المرأة عند طهرها فتعلم أنها قد طهرت من حيضها.
Al-Tariyyah, like 'ghaniyyah': refers to the remainder of a woman's menses, less than the yellowish or brownish discharge, and more hidden, which the woman sees near her period of purity, thus knowing she has become pure from her menses.
قال شمر: ولا تكون الترية إلا بعد الاغتسال، وأما ما كان في أيام الحيض فليس بترية.
Shammir said: Al-Tariyyah only occurs after ritual bathing; as for what appears during the days of menstruation, it is not Al-Tariyyah.
