He said: And Ru'bah mentioned a man and said: He was one of the daughters of the mosques of God, as if he made him a pebble from the pebbles of the mosque.
قال ابن سيده، عن ابن الأعرابي والعرب تقول الرفق {بني الحلم أي مثله.
Ibn Saydah said, from Ibn Al-A'rabi: And the Arabs say gentleness {is the بني of forbearance, meaning its like.
وبنات القلب طوائفه؛ وبه فسر قول أمية الهذلي:
And the بني of the heart are its divisions; and with this was explained the saying of Umayyah Al-Hudhali:
فسبت بنات القلب وهي رهائن
So she captured the بني of the heart while they were captives
وكذلك ابن الليل وابن العلم، ويقال فلان ابن فرجه إذا كان همه مصروفًا إليهما، وابن يومه إذا لم يتفكر في غده، انتهى.
And the son of the night and the son of knowledge, and it is said so-and-so is the son of his private part if his concern is directed to them, and the son of his day if he does not think about his tomorrow, ended.
وأنشد ابن الأعرابي: يا سعد بن عملي يا سعد أراد من يعمل عملي أو مثل عملي.
And Ibn Al-A'rabi recited: O Sa'd, son of my deed, O Sa'd, meaning one who does my deed or like my deed.
