ومن أحسن دينا ممن أسلم وجهه لله
And who is better in religion than one who submits his face to Allah.

(And he mentioned tribulations like the faces of cows)
أي يشبه بعضها بعضا، أو المراد تأتي نواطح للناس
Meaning some of them resemble each other, or the intent is that they will butt people.
ويقال: وجه فلان سدافثه، أي أزالها من مكانها
And it is said: 'He removed so-and-so's burdens', meaning he removed them from their place.
وقد يعبر بالوجوه عن القلوب؛ ومنه الحديث: (أو ليخالفن الله بين وجوهكم)
And faces are sometimes used to refer to hearts; and from this is the Hadith: (Or Allah will surely change between your faces).
واتجه له رأي: أي سنح
And an opinion occurred to him: meaning it came to mind.
ووجه الفرس: ما أقبل عليك من الرأس من دون منابت شعر الرأس
And the face of a horse is what faces you from the head, below the hairline.
ويقال: إنه لعبد الوجه وحر الوجه، وسهل الوجه إذا لم يكن ظاهر الوجنة
And it is said: He is a servant of the face, and free of the face, and easy of the face if the cheekbone is not prominent.

And the face of the day is the morning prayer.
ووجه نهار: موضع؛ وبه فسر ابن الأعرابي فيما حكى عنه ثعلب قول الشاعر: فليأت نسوتنا بوجه نهار
And 'wajh nahar' means a place; and with this, Ibn Al-A'rabi, as narrated by Tha'lab, interpreted the poet's saying: 'Let him come to our women with a face of the day'.
ووجه الحجر: عقبة قرب جبيل على ساحل بحر الشام؛ عن ياقوت
And Wajh Al-Hajar is a pass near Jubayl on the coast of the Syrian Sea; according to Yaqut.
والوجه: منهل معروف بين المويلحة وأكرى
And Al-Wajh is a known watering place between Al-Muwaylihah and Akra.
وصرف الشيء عن وجهه: أي سننه
And to divert something from its face: meaning its proper course.
وماله في هذا الأمر وجهة: أي لا يبصر وجه أمره كيف يأتي له
And he has no direction in this matter: meaning he does not see the way his affair will turn out for him.

And Al-Wajhah is the Qibla (direction of prayer).
والمواجهة: استقبالك الرجل بكلام أو وجه؛ قاله الليث
And Al-Muwajahah is your confronting a man with speech or face; said Al-Layth.
ورجل ذو وجهين: إذا لقي بخلاف ما في قلبه
And a man of two faces: if he meets (someone) contrary to what is in his heart.
ومن الحديث: (ذو الوجهين لا يكون عند الله وجيها)
And from the Hadith: (The one of two faces will not be esteemed by Allah).
ووجه المطر الأرض: قشر وجهها وأثر فيه كحرصها؛ عن ابن الأعرابي
And the rain washed the land: it scraped its face and affected it like a furrow; according to Ibn Al-A'rabi.
وفي المثل: أحمق ما يتوجه، أي لا يحسن أن يأتي الغائط؛ كما في الأساس
And in the proverb: 'The most foolish one to go to the toilet', meaning he does not know how to go to the toilet; as in Al-Asas.
ويقال: عندي امرأة قد أوجهت، أي قعدت عن الولادة
And it is said: I have a woman who has 'awjahat', meaning she has ceased giving birth.
ووجهت الريح الحصى توجيها سافته؛ قال: توجه أبساط الحقوف التياهر
And the wind blew the gravel, scattering it; he said: 'It directs the plains of the hips, the high ones'.
ويقال: قاد فلان فلانا بوجه، أي انقاد واتبع
And it is said: So-and-so led so-and-so by face, meaning he followed and obeyed.
ووجه الأعمى أو المريض: جعل وجهه للقبلة
And to turn the face of the blind or sick person: to make his face towards the Qibla.
وأوجهه وأوجأه: رده
And 'awjahahu' and 'awja'ahu': to turn him back.
وخرج القوم فوجهوا للناس الطريق: أي وطئوه وسلكوه حتى استبان أثر الطريق لمن سلكه
And the people went out and they paved the way for the people: meaning they trod it and followed it until the track of the road became clear for whoever took it.
ووجه الثوب: ما ظهر لبصرك
And the face of the garment: what appears to your sight.

And from this is the face of the issue; narrated by Al-Suhayli.

And I heard a beggar say: Who can guide me to a noble Arab face that will carry me on a mule?

And your speech has no face: meaning no validity.
والجهوية: فرقة تقول بالجهة
And Al-Jahwiyyah: a group that believes in direction.
والتوجيه للقثاء والبطيخة: أن يحفر ما تحتهما ويهيآ ثم يوضعا؛ نقله الصاغاني
