رب أشعث أغبر ذي طمرين لا يوبه له لو أقسم على الله لأبره
Perhaps a disheveled, dusty one with two worn garments, who is not paid attention to, if he swore by God, He would fulfill his oath.
معناه لا يفطن له لذلته وقلة مرآته ولا يحتفل به لحقارته
Its meaning is that he is not noticed due to his lowliness and insignificance, nor is he given importance due to his contemptibility.
وهو ذلك من الفضل في دينه والإخبات لربه بحيث إذا دعاه استجاب له دعاءه.
And he is of such virtue in his religion and humility to his Lord that when he calls upon Him, He answers his supplication.
وقال الزجاج: ما أوبهت له لغة في وبهت أي ما شعرت.
And Al-Zajjaj said: 'Ma awbahtu lahu' is a dialectal variant of 'ma bahattu', meaning, I did not feel it.
