And the common people misuse things and make mistakes, saying: 'We went out for an outing' when they go to the gardens, making 'at-tanazzuh' the going out to gardens, greenery, and meadows
وإنما التنزه التباعد عن الأرياف والمياه حيث لا يكون ماء ولا ندى ولا جمع ناس، وذلك شق البادية
And 'at-tanazzuh' is only distancing from the countryside and waters where there is no water, no dew, and no gathering of people, and that is the wilderness
فغاية ما يلزم كونه حقيقة قاصرة فالعجب من التغليط في ذلك مع تسليم كون التنزه التباعد
So the utmost that can be said is that it is a limited reality, and the astonishment is at the misjudgment in this, while accepting that 'at-tanazzuh' is distancing
وقد يكون بالتباعد عن المذام
And it may be by distancing from blames
فإذا قالوا: خرجوا يتنزهون، أرادوا التباعد عن الأرياف والمواضع الندية
So if they say: 'They went out for an outing', they mean distancing from the countryside and damp places
وإذا قالوا في الرجل: هو يتنزه أرادوا به البعد عن الأقذار أو المذام
And if they say about a man: 'He is 'yatanazzahu'', they mean distance from filth or blames
وإذا أطلقوه على الباري سبحانه، أرادوا به التقدس عن الأنداد وعما لا يجوز عليه من النقائص
And if they use it for Allah Almighty, they mean His transcendence from rivals and from what is impermissible for Him of deficiencies
فالبستان مكان نزه والخروج إليه تباعد عن مكروه في زمان هم أو خاطر مغموم، أو مكان غير ملائم وإخوان سوء وهواء متعفن وأمثال ذلك
For a garden is a remote place, and going out to it is distancing from something disliked in their time, or a sad thought, or an unsuitable place, bad companions, and foul air, and the like
لأن النزه فسروه بالبعيد عن المياه، والبستان لا يكون بعيدا عن الماء بل إنما مادته كثرة الماء
