و سَمِهَ الرجلُ سَمَهًا: دَهِشَ
And the man was bewildered (سَمِهَ) with bewilderment (سَمَهًا): he was confused.
فهو سَامِهٌ: حائرٌ، من قومٍ سِمَةٌ
He is bewildered: confused, from a people who are bewildered.
والسَّمْهَى: الهواء بين السماء والأرض
And السَّمْهَى: the air between the sky and the earth.
يُقالُ للهواءِ اللَّوْحُ والسَّمْهَى

A man whose mind is taken (مَسْمَهٌ العَقْلِ) and whose mind is taken (مَسْبُهٌ العَقْلِ), like مُعْظَمٍ: his reason is gone.
إذا مشت هذه الأمة السَّمِيهَى فقد تودع منها
When this nation walks with arrogance (السَّمِيهَى), then bid it farewell.
والسَّمْهُ، كَسَكْرٍ: أن يَرْمِيَ الرجلُ إلى غير غَرَضٍ
And السَّمْهُ, like سَكْرٍ: is when a man throws without a purpose.
وبَقِيَ القومُ سَمْهًا: أي مُتَلَدِّدِينَ
And the people remained in a state of السَّمْهًا: meaning hesitant or confused.
ذَهَبَتْ إِبِلُهُ السَّمْهَى: تَفَرَّقَتْ في كل وجه
His camels went astray (السَّمْهَى): they scattered in every direction.
