ومتن الكبش يمتنه متنا: شق صفنه واستخرج بيضه بعروقها، كما في الصحاح.

And he split the ram's scrotum, he splits its scrotum with a matn, extracting its testicles with their cords, as in Al-Sihah.

وإذا شققت الصفن، وهو جلدة الخصيتين وأخرجتهما بعروقهما فذلك المتن، وهو ممتون.

And if you split the scrotum, which is the skin of the testicles, and extract them with their cords, then that is the matn, and it is mamtun.

والمتنان: لحمتان معصوبتان بينهما صلب الظهر.

And Al-matnan: two muscles bound together between them is the backbone.

ومن المجاز: متن فلاناً: إذا ضرب متنه، كأمتنه.

والتمتين: أن تقول لمن سابقك تقدمني إلى موضع كذا وكذا ثم ألحقك.

And Al-tamteen: to say to one who raced you, 'Go ahead of me to such-and-such a place, then I will catch up.'

ويقال: متن فلان لفلان كذا وكذا ذراعا ثم لحقه.

And it is said: So-and-so advanced so-and-so many cubits ahead of so-and-so, then caught up.

والتمتين: أن تجعل ما بين طرائق البيت متنا من شعر لئلا تمزقه أطراف الأعمدة.

And Al-tamteen: to make what is between the panels of the tent a solid part of hair so that the ends of the poles do not tear it.

And Al-matn, the strong bowstring.

وجلد له متن: أي صلابة.

وأكل وقوة.

والمتيم في أسماء الله، عز وجل، ذو القوة والاقتدار والشدة والقوة.

And Al-Mateen, among the names of God, may He be exalted, is the Possessor of might, power, severity, and strength.
