I say: This is a textual corruption, and the correct form is 'al-Gass', with a Ghayn and a Sin without a Nun, as previously mentioned for it; and so it is from Ibn Duraid.
وقال ابن الأعرابي: الغسن، بضمتين: الضعفاء في رأيهم وعقولهم، فتأمل.
And Ibn al-A'rabi said: 'al-Gusn', with two dammahs: the weak in their opinion and intellects, so ponder.
والغسنة والغسناة، بضمهما: الخصلة من الشعر
And 'al-Gusnah' and 'al-Gusnah', with two dammahs: a lock of hair.

Ibn al-Bari said: This verse is attributed to Jandil al-Tahwi.

He said: And what Tha'lab and Abu 'Amr narrated is: 'and in his locks'.
قال والغيسة: النضارة والنعمة؛ قال: وتقدم ذلك في السين؛
He said: And 'al-Gaysah': freshness and prosperity; he said: and that was mentioned under the letter Sin.

قال الأصمعي: الغسن خصل الشعر من المرأة والفرس، وهي الغدائر.
Al-Asma'i said: 'al-Gusn' is a lock of hair from a woman and a horse, and it is 'al-Ghada'ir'.
وقال غيره: شعر الناصية، فرس ذو غسن؛
And others said: the hair of the forelock, a horse with a mane.
قال عدي بن زيد: مشرف الهادي له غسن يعرق العلجين إحضارا
Adi ibn Zayd said: The high-necked one has a mane that sweats the two reins from exertion.
وفي المحكم: الغسن: شعر العرف والناصية والذوائب؛
And in 'al-Muhkam': 'al-Gusn': the hair of the mane, forelock, and long flowing hair.
قال الأعشى: غدا بتليل كجذع الخضاب حر القذال طويل الغسن

يقال: كان ذلك في غيسان شبابه إن جعلته فيعالا أو فعالا، فهو من هذا الباب، وقد ذكر غسان في غ س س، وغيسان في غ ي س؛
It is said: That was in the prime of his youth, if you make it 'fi'aal' or 'fa'aal', then it is from this category, and Ghassan was mentioned under Gh-S-S, and Ghaysan under Gh-Y-S.
وأنشد ابن بري للراجز: لا يبعدن عهد الشباب الأنضر والخبط في غيسانه الغميدر
And Ibn al-Bari recited for the poet: May the time of fresh youth and struggling in its deep prime not be far.
ويقال: (ما أنت من غسانه وغيسانه)، أي لست (من رجاله)، أو من ضربه.
And it is said: 'You are not from its Ghassan and Ghaysan', meaning you are not 'from its men', or from its kind.
غسان، (كشداد: ماء نزل عليه قوم من الأزد؛ وقد مر في السين أنه بين رمع وزبيد، (فنسبوا إليه، منهم بنو جفنة رهط الملوك والحارث المحرق وثعلبة العنقاء وثعلبة الأكبر.
Ghassan, (like Shaddad): a water upon which a people from Azd descended; and it was mentioned under Sin that it is between Ram' and Zubayd, (and they were attributed to it, among them Banu Jafna, the kin of kings, and Al-Harith al-Muhriq, and Tha'labah al-'Anqa', and Tha'labah al-Akbar.
أو غسان: اسم القبيلة، وهو مازن بن الأزد بن الغوث.
Or Ghassan: the name of the tribe, which is Mazin ibn Azd ibn al-Ghawth.
أو اسم دابة وقعت في هذا الماء فسمي به كل ذلك؛ تقدم تفصيله في حرف السين، وكأن المصنف، رحمه اللها تعالى، أعاده هنا إشارة إلى القولين، فإنه حكى فيه الصرف والمنع كما ذكر هناك.
Or the name of a beast that fell into this water, so all of that was named after it; its detail was previously mentioned under the letter Sin, and it is as if the author, may God have mercy on him, repeated it here to indicate the two opinions, as he mentioned the inflection and prohibition as mentioned there.
