Or 'al-ghabn' (with Sukun) in a sale (which is more common), and (with Harakah) in opinion: if he deceives him and undervalues him.
وقيل؛ غَبِنَ في البيع غَبْنًا: إذا غَفَلَ عنه بيعًا كان أو شراءً.
And it was said: to be cheated in a sale with 'ghabnan': if one is negligent about it, whether it was a sale or a purchase.
وقد غُبِنَ الرجلُ، (كعُنِيَ، فهو مَغْبُونٌ؛ والاسم الغَبِينَةُ)، كالشتيمة من الشتم.
And the man has been deceived, (like 'uniya', so he is 'maghbun'; and the noun is 'al-ghabina'), like 'shatima' from 'shatama'.
والتَّغَابُنُ: أن يَغْبَنَ بعضُهم بعضًا.
And 'al-taghabun': is for some of them to deceive one another.
ويومُه يومُ التَّغَابُنِ: وهو يومُ البعث؛
And his day is the Day of Mutual Loss: and it is the Day of Resurrection.
لأن أهلَ الجنةِ تَغْبَنُ فيه أهلَ النارِ بما يصير إليه أهلُ الجنةِ من النعيم، ويلقى فيه أهلُ النارِ من العذاب، ويُغْبَنُ من ارتفعت منزلته في الجنةِ من كان دون منزلته،
Because the people of Paradise will gain over the people of Hell in what the people of Paradise attain of bliss, and the people of Hell will receive of punishment, and he whose rank is raised in Paradise will gain over him who is below his rank.
وسُئِلَ الحسنُ عن قوله تعالى: {ذلك يوم التغابن}، فقال: غَبِنَ أهلُ الجنةِ أهلَ النارِ، أي استنقصوا عقولهم باختيارهم الكفر على الإيمان.
And Al-Hasan was asked about the saying of Allah Almighty: {That is the Day of Mutual Loss}, so he said: The people of Paradise have gained over the people of Hell, meaning they have diminished their intellects by choosing disbelief over faith.
ونظر الحسينُ إلى رجلٍ غَبَنَ آخرَ في بيعٍ فقال: إن هذا يَغْبَنُ عقلكَ أي ينقصه.
And Al-Husayn looked at a man who had deceived another in a sale and said: This man deceives your intellect, meaning he diminishes it.
والمَغَابِنُ، كَمَنْزِل: الإبطُ والرَّفْغُ، ج مَغَابِنَ؛
And 'al-maghabin', like 'manzil': the armpit and the groin, plural 'maghabin'.
وفي الحديث: (كان إذا اطَّلَى بدأ بمَغَابِنِهِ)؛
And in the Hadith: (He used to start with his folds of skin when he applied oil).
وفي حديث عكرمة: (من مسَّ مَغَابِنَهُ فليتوضأ)؛
And in the narration of Ikrimah: (Whoever touches his folds of skin should perform ablution).
وقال ثعلب: كلُّ ما ثَنَيْتَ عليه فَخِذَكَ فهو مَغْبَنٌ.
And Tha'lab said: Everything you fold your thigh upon is a 'maghban'.
واغْتَبَنَهُ: اختَبَأَهُ فيه)، أي في المَغْبَنِ.
And to hide him in it: to hide him in it, meaning in the fold.
وقد غَبَنُوا خَبَرَها، كَنَصَرَ وسَمِعَ)، أي (لم يعلموا علمَها.
And they were unaware of its condition, like 'nasara' and 'sami'a), meaning (they did not know its knowledge).
والغَبْنُ في الثوب كالعَطْفِ فيه)، وقد غَبَنَهُ غَبْنًا: ثَنَاهُ وعَطَفَهُ.
And 'al-ghabn' in a garment is like 'al-'atf' in it), and he folded it with 'ghabnan': he folded it and creased it.
وفي التهذيب: طالَ فَثَنَاهُ، وكذلك كَبَنَهُ.
And in Al-Tahdhib: it became long, so he folded it, and likewise he 'kabana' it.
والغَابِنُ: الفاترُ عن العمل).
And 'al-ghabin': the one who is sluggish in action.
غَبَنْتَ رأيَكَ: أي ضَيَّعْتَهُ ونَسِيتَهُ.
You weakened your opinion: meaning you lost it and forgot it.
وغَبَنَ الرجلُ يَغْبَنُهُ غَبْنًا: مَرَّ به وهو مَثَلٌ فلم يَرَهُ ولم يَفْطَنْ له.
And a man passed by him, and he passed by him, and he was present but did not see him and did not notice him.
وغَبَنُوا الناسَ: إذا لم يَنَلْهُمْ غيرُهُم.
And they deprived people: if no one else reached them.
وغَبَنَ الشيءَ: خبَّأَهُ في المَغْبَنِ.

وما قُطِعَ من أطرافِ الثوبِ فأسْقَطَ غُبْنٌ، محركة؛
And what is cut from the edges of the garment and discarded is 'ghubn', (vocalized).
والغُبْنُ: ثَنِيُّ الدَّلْوِ لِيَنْقُصَ من طُولِهِ.
And 'al-ghubn': is the folding of a bucket to shorten its length.
وتَغَابَنَ له: تَقَاعَدَ حتى غُبِنَ.
And to lag behind for him: to delay until he was disadvantaged.
