يقال: خل عن ذلك المطفون.
It is said: Release those who are confined.
والطفانية، كعلانية: شتم للرجل والمرأة
And Al-Tafaniyah, like 'Alaniyah': an insult to a man and a woman
وقيل: هو نعت سوء فيهما.
And it was said: It is a bad trait in them.
وقال ابن بري: (الطفانين: الكذب) والباطل (وما لا خير فيه من الكلام) ؛
And Ibn Bri said: (Al-Tafanin: lies) and falsehood (and what contains no good from speech);
قال أبو زبيد: طفانين قول في مكان مخنق
Abu Zubayd said: Lies and worthless talk in a suffocating place.
وقال ابن الأعرابي: الطفانين: (الحبس والتخلف.
And Ibn Al-A'rabi said: Al-Tafanin: (confinement and lagging behind).
واطفأن: اطمأن، وكذلك اطبأن بالباء.
And 'Ishtafanna': 'Isatama'nna', and likewise 'Isatabanna' with Ba'.
واطفأن (خلقه): أي (حسن).
And 'Ishtafanna' (his disposition): meaning, (it improved).
الطفانية، كعلانية: المرأة العجوز.
