والصحن: ساحة (وسط الدار) ، وساحة وسط الفلاة ونحوهما من متون الأرض وسعة بطونها، والجمع صحون، لا يكسر على غير ذلك؛ قال:

ومهمة أغبر ذي صحون

والصحن: المستوي من الأرض.

والصحن: صحن الوادي، وهو سنده وفيه شيء من إشراف عن الأرض الأول فالأول كأنه مسند إسنادا؛ وصحن الجبل، وصحن الأكمة مثله.
