وبه فسر ما أنشده أبو عبيدة.
And with this, what Abu Ubaidah recited was interpreted.

Jawn, with damma, like 'wird' and 'wird' as in Al-Muhkam.
وفي الصحاح: مثل قولك: رجل صتم وقوم صتم.
And in Sahah: like your saying: a silent man and a silent people.
وفي التهذيب: ويقال كل بعير جون من بعيد، وكل حمار وحشي جون من بعيد، وهي جونة، الجمع كالجمع.
And in Al-Tahdhib: It is said that every camel is Jawn from afar, and every wild ass is Jawn from afar, and they are Jawnah, the plural is like the plural.
فأقسم لولا فارس الجون منهملآبوا خزايا والإياب حبيبيقدمه حتى تغيب حجوله
So I swear, if not for the rider of Al-Jawn, they would have returned disgraced, and the return would be beloved, advancing him until his hobbles disappeared.
ولولا ذوات الجون ظل متمم بأرض الخزامى وهو للذل عارف
And if not for the ones with Al-Jawn, Mutammim would have remained in the land of Khuzama, and he knew humiliation.
ظللت وظل الجون عندي مسرجا كأني أعدي عن جناح مهيض
I remained, and Al-Jawn remained with me saddled, as if I were avoiding a broken wing.
تكاثر قرزل والجون فيهاوتحجل والنعامة والخيال
The Qarzil and Al-Jawn multiplied in it, and the sandgrouse, the ostrich, and the mirage.

He narrated from Al-Hasan regarding the tanning of carcasses.
طرفا القوس
The ends of the bow.
لاسودادها إذا غابت، وقد يكون لبياضها وصفائها، وهي جونة بينة الجونة فيهما؛
Due to its blackness when it sets, and it may be due to its whiteness and clarity, and it is a clear Jawnah in both aspects.
تبادر الجونة أن تغيبا
The Jawnah hastens to set.
إن الشمس لجونه، أي أنها شديدة البريق والصفاء؛
Indeed, the sun is Jawnah, meaning it is intensely bright and clear.
فقد قهرت لون الدرع.
It has overpowered the color of the armor.
والجونة: الأحمر.
And Al-Jawnah: the red.
والجونة: الفحمة.
And Al-Jawnah: charcoal.
والجونة: ة بين مكة والطائف.
And Al-Jawnah: a village between Mecca and Taif.
وهو مصدر الجون، كما في الصحاح.
And it is the masdar of Al-Jawn, as in Sahah.
مستديرة مغشاة أدما تكون مع العطارين، والأصل الهمز
Round, covered with leather, found with perfumers, and its origin is hamz.
وكان المصاع بما في الجون.
And the struggle was with what was in the Jawnah.
والجوني: ضرب من القطا
And Al-Jouni: a type of sandgrouse.
فالجوني والكدري واحد، والضرب الثاني: الغطاط والكدري،
So Al-Jouni and Al-Kadri are the same, and the second type is Al-Ghataat and Al-Kadri.
والجوني ما كان أكدر الظهر أسود باطن الجناح مصفر الحلق قصير الرجلين، في ذنبه ريشات أطول من سائر الذنب،
And Al-Jouni is what has a murky back, black inner wing, yellowish throat, short legs, with feathers in its tail longer than the rest of the tail.
والغطاط منه: أسود باطن الجناح، واغبرت ظهوره غبرة ليست بالشديدة وعظمت عيونه.
And Al-Ghataat from it: black inner wing, its backs are dusty with a not-so-intense dustiness, and its eyes are large.
تبييض باب العروس وتسويد باب الميت

Among them is the jurist Muhammad bin Ali Al-Jawani, the Kurd of Hillah, the Shafi'i, may God have mercy on him.
وهو أبو بطن، منهم أسماء بنت النعمان بن عمرو بن جون! الجونية الكندية، دخل عليها النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فتعوذت منه فطلقها، فذكروا أنها ماتت كمدا.
And he is the father of a lineage, among them Asma bint Al-Nu'man bin Amr bin Jawn! Al-Juniyyah Al-Kindiyyah, the Prophet, peace be upon him, entered upon her, so she sought refuge from him, so he divorced her, and they mentioned that she died of grief.

And what Ibn Hibban mentioned is that he is from Jawn of Kinda.
الجون: لقب موسى بن عبد الله بن الحسن بن علي بن أبي طالب، رضي الله عنهم أجمعين، كان أسود اللون فلقبته أمه بذلك وكانت ترقصه وهو طفل وتقول:
Al-Jawn: is the title of Musa bin Abdullah bin Al-Hasan bin Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with them all. He was dark-skinned, so his mother gave him this title, and she used to rock him as a child and say:
إنك أن تكون جونا أقرعا يوشك أن تسودهم وتبرعا
If you become a bald Jawn, you will soon lead them and be generous.
من قرى الشام، ومنها أحمد بن محمد بن عبيد السلمي الجوني من شيوخ الطبراني؛
From the villages of Sham, and among them is Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Ubaid Al-Sulami Al-Jouni, one of the teachers of Al-Tabarani.
وخلف بن حصين ابن جوان، كغراب، الجواني الواسطي عن محمد بن حسان، وعنه ابن صاعد، ذكره ابن السمعاني، رحمه الله تعالى.
And Khalaf bin Husayn bin Jawan, like Ghurab, Al-Jawani Al-Wasiti, narrated from Muhammad bin Hassan, and Ibn Sa'id narrated from him. Ibn Al-Sam'ani mentioned him, may God have mercy on him.

Muhammad bin Al-Husayn bin Jawan Al-Jawani; Mansur said: He came to Alexandria and narrated there from Abu Al-Futuḥ bin Al-Muqri, and he was virtuous.
والإمام النسابة أبو علي محمد بن أسعد بن علي الحسيني الجواني، بفتح وتشديد، إلى الجوانية من قرى المدينة، ولد سنة 525 وتوفي سنة 588، ولي نقابة الأشراف، وله عدة مؤلفات.
And the genealogist Imam Abu Ali Muhammad bin As'ad bin Ali Al-Husayni Al-Jawani, with fatha and shadda, from Al-Jawaniyyah, villages of Medina. He was born in 525 AH and died in 588 AH. He held the position of Naqib Al-Ashraf and has several works.

وابنة الجون نائحة من كندة؛
And Ibnat Al-Jawn is a mourner from Kinda.

The mourning of Ibnat Al-Jawn over a deceased, lamenting him, raising her voice.

يقال للخابية جونة، وللدلو إذا اسودت جونة، وللفرق جون.
A water skin is called Jawnah, and a bucket if it becomes black is Jawnah, and a waterskin is Jawn.
لا أفعله حتى تبيض جونة القار، هذا إذا أردت سواده،
I will not do it until the black pitch's Jawnah becomes white, this is if you mean its blackness.
وجونة القار إذا أردت الخابية، اه.

وكل أخ يقال له جوين وجون؛
