Abu Ali al-Qali was of the opinion that its origin is 'bas' (بَسْ), the masdar of 'bas' (بَسَّ) the sweet cake with ghee or oil to complete its goodness, so it means 'basus' (بَسُوس), then one of the 'seen's was omitted and the 'noon' was added, meaning a complete and beautiful 'hasan' (بَسِن).
