It is said: The water became stagnant, it becomes stagnant, with stagnation, and became stagnant (with kasra), with stagnation: it changed, except that it is drinkable.
وفي التنزيلِ العزيزِ: {ماءٍ غيرِ} آسِنٍ}
And in the Noble Qur'an: {water not stagnant}.
قال الفراءُ: غيرُ متغيرٍ ولا آجنٍ
Al-Farra' said: not changed and not stagnant.
وأَسِنَ له يأسِنُهُ ويأسِنُهُ، من حَدِيَ، ضَرَبَ ونَصَرَ: إذا كَسَعَهُ برجِلِهِ
And he kicked him with his leg, he kicks him and kicks him, from hadiya, daraba, and nasara: if he kicked him with his leg.
وأَسِنَ الرجلُ، كفَرِحَ: دَخَلَ البِئْرَ فأصابتهُ ريحٌ مُنْتِنَةٌ منها فَغُشِيَ عليهِ ودارَ رأسُهُ، فهو أَسِنٌ
And the man became faint, like faraha: he entered the well and a foul wind from it afflicted him, so he fainted and his head spun, so he is faint.
يغادرُ القِرْنَ مُصْفَرّاً أنامِلُهُ يَميدُ في الرُّمْحِ مَيْدَ المائِحِ الأَسِنِ
He leaves the rival with yellowed fingertips, swaying on the spear like the swaying of the faint water-carrier.
قال الأزهريُّ: هو اليَسَنُ والأَسِنُ؛ ويُروى الوَسَنُ أيضاً وسيأتي إن شاء الله تعالى
Al-Azhari said: it is Al-Yasan and Al-Asin; and it is also narrated as Al-Wasan, and it will come, God willing.
وتَأَسَّنَ الرجلُ: تَذَكَّرَ العَهْدَ الماضي القَديمَ
And the man recalled: he remembered the old, past covenant.
وتَأَسَّنَ: أَبْطَأَ، كتَأَسَّرَ
And he became slow: he became slow, like ta'assara.
وتَأَسَّنَ عليَّ تَأَسُّناً: اعْتَلَّ؛ نقله الجوهري عن أبي زيد

وأَسِنَ: وادٍ باليَمَنِ في أرضِ بني عامِرٍ؛ قاله نصر
And Asin: a valley in Yemen in the land of Bani Amir; narrated by Nasr.
وقيلَ: في بلادِ بني العِجْلانِ
And it was said: in the lands of Bani Al-Ajlan.
وقيلَ: ماءٌ لِتَميمٍ؛ قال ابنُ مُقْبِلٍ
And it was said: water belonging to Tamim; Ibn Muqbil said
قالتْ سُلَيْمى ببطنِ القاعِ من أَسِنٍ لا خيرَ في العيشِ بعدَ الشَّيْبِ والكِبَرِ
Salma said in the valley of Al-Qaa' in Asin: there is no good in life after old age and gray hair.
والأَسِنُ: طاقَةُ النَّسْعِ والحَبْلِ؛ عن أبي عمروٍ، وجمعهُ آسَانٌ، وأنشد الفراءُ لابنِ زَيْدِ مَناةَ
And Al-Asin: the loop of the saddle strap and the rope; from Abu Amr, and its plural is Aasan, and Al-Farra' recited for Ibn Zayd Manah
لقد كنتُ أَهْوَى النَّاقِمِيَّةَ حِقْبَةً فقد جَعَلَتْ آسَانُ وَصْلٍ تَقَطُّعُ
I used to love Al-Naqimiyyah for a long time, then the loops of connection began to sever.
قال ابنُ بَرِّيٍّ، رحمه الله تعالى: جَعَلَ قُوَى الوَصْلِ بِمَنْزِلَةِ قُوَى الحَبْلِ
Ibn Barrī, may God have mercy on him, said: He made the strengths of connection like the strengths of the rope.
والأَسِنُ: بَقِيَّةُ الشَّحْمِ القَديمِ؛ عن ابنِ السِّكِّيتِ
And Al-Asin: the remnant of old fat; from Ibn Al-Sikkit.
يقالُ: سَمِنْتُ على أَسِنٍ أي على أَثَارَةِ شَحْمٍ قديمٍ كان قبلَ ذلك؛ كالإِسْنِ، بالكسرِ
It is said: I gained weight on old fat, meaning on a remnant of old fat that was before that; like Al-Isn, with kasra.
والأَسِنُ، كعَتَلٍ: ج آسَانٍ
And Al-Asin, like 'atal: plural Aasan.
وقال الفراءُ: إذا بَقِيَتْ من شَحْمِ الناقةِ ولَحْمِها بَقِيَّةٌ فاسمُها الأَسِنُ والعَسِنُ، والجمعُ آسَانٌ وأَعْسَانٌ
And Al-Farra' said: if there remains a remnant of the she-camel's fat and meat, its name is Al-Asin and Al-'Asin, and the plural is Aasan and A'san.
والأُسَيْنَةُ: القُوَّةُ من قُوَى الوَتَرِ، ج أَسَائِنُ وأُسُنٌ، كسَفائِنَ وسُفُنٍ
And Al-Usaynah: the strength from the strengths of the bowstring, plural Asa'in and Usun, like Safain and Sufun.
والأُسَيْنَةُ: سَيْرٌ من سُيُورٍ تُضْفَرُ جَميعاً فتُجْعَلُ نَسْعاً أو عِناناً، والجمعُ كالجمعِ
And Al-Usaynah: a strap from straps that are braided together and made into a saddle strap or reins, and the plural is like the plural.
وأسَنَتْ لهُ أسْناً: أبْقَتْ لهُ
And she left him a remainder: she left him.
وإِسْنَى، بالكسرِ ويُفْتَحُ: د بصعيدِ مِصْرَ في أَقْصاهُ وليسَ وراءَهُ إلا أَدْفُو وإسْوانُ ثم بلادُ النُّوبَةِ
And Isna, with kasra and it is opened: a city in Upper Egypt, at its furthest end, and beyond it is only Adfu, Aswan, then the lands of Nubia.
وهو على شاطِئِ النيلِ المبارَكِ في الجانِبِ الغَرْبِيِّ مدينةٌ عامِرَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ كثيرةُ النَّخْلِ والبساتينِ والتِّجارةِ
And it is on the bank of the blessed Nile on the western side, a populous, pleasant city with many date palms, gardens, and trade.
وإليها نُسِبَ جماعةٌ من العلماءِ، رحمهم الله تعالى، كالجمالِ عبدِ الرحيمِ بنِ الحَسَنِ الأُمَوِيِّ الإِسْنَائِيِّ صاحبِ التصانيفِ في الفقهِ والأصولِ، وأخيهِ عِمادِ الدينِ، وآلِ بيتِهِما، رحمهم الله تعالى
And a group of scholars are attributed to it, may God have mercy on them, such as Jamal Abd Al-Rahim bin Al-Hasan Al-Umawi Al-Isna'i, the author of works in jurisprudence and principles, and his brother Imad Al-Din, and their household, may God have mercy on them.
مياهُ آسَانٍ: مُتَغَيِّرَةٌ؛ قال عَوْفُ بنُ الخَرِعِ
The waters of Aasan: are changed; Auf bin Al-Khara' said
وتَشْرَبُ آسَانَ الحِياضِ تَسُوفُها ولو وَرَدَتْ ماءَ المُرْبِدَةِ آجِماً أرادَ آجِناً، فَقَلَبَ وأَبْدَلَ
And they drink the stagnant waters of the basins, tasting them, even if they had arrived at the water of Al-Murbaidah, stagnant, meaning stagnant, so he inverted and substituted.
وتَأَسَّنَ عَهْدُهُ و وُدُّهُ: إذا تَغَيَّرَ؛ قال رؤبةُ
And his covenant and his affection became stagnant: if it changed; Ru'bah said
راجِعْهُ عَهْداً من التأَسُّنِ
Revisit it with a covenant of stagnation.
والإِسْنُ، بالكسرِ: قُوَّةٌ من قُوَى الحَبْلِ، والجمعُ أُسُونٌ؛ قال الطِّرِمَّاحُ
And Al-Isn, with kasra: a strength from the strengths of the rope, and the plural is Usun; Al-Tirammah said
كحَلْقُومِ القَطَاةِ أمُرُّ شَزَراً كإِمْرارِ المُحَدْرَجِ ذي الأُسُونِ
Like the throat of the sandgrouse, I pass crookedly, like the passing of the one who is dragged with the strong rope.
ويقالُ: أعْطِني إسْناً من عَقِبٍ
And it is said: Give me a strap from a descendant.
وقال أبو عمرٍو: الأَسِنُ لُعْبَةٌ لهم يُسَمُّونَها الضَّبْطَةَ والمِنْسَةَ
And Abu Amr said: Al-Asin is a game they have which they call Al-Dabtah and Al-Minsah.
وآسَانُ الرجلِ: مَذاهِبُهُ
And the ways of a man: his inclinations.
والآسَانُ: الآثارُ القَديمةُ
And Al-Aasan: the ancient traces.
وآسَانُ الثيابِ: ما تُقُطِّعَ منها وبَلِيَ
And the remnants of clothes: what is cut from them and worn out.
ويقالُ: ما بَقِيَ من الثوبِ إلا آسَانٌ أي بَقايا؛ والواحدُ أَسِنٌ؛ قال الشاعرُ
And it is said: nothing remains of the garment but remnants, meaning remnants; and the singular is Asin; the poet said
يا أخَوَيْنا من تَميمٍ عَرْجَانِ ستُخْبِرُ الرَّبْعَ كآسَانِ الخُلُقِ
O our two brothers from Tamim, stop! You will inform the dwelling place like the remnants of character.
وما أَسِنَ لذلكَ: أي ما فُطِنَ
And what he became aware of for that: meaning what he perceived.
والتأَسُّنُ: التَّوَهُّمُ والنِّسْيانُ
And Al-Ta'assun: imagination and forgetfulness.
وأَسَنَ الشيءَ: أثْبَتَهُ
And he established the thing: he confirmed it.
