And Ibn al-A'rabi said: it is the eggplant, like al-kahkab, and it is as if the 'ba' is a substitute for the 'mim'.
والكهكم أيضا: المسن الكبير، كالقهقم إلا أنه يشدد الميم حينئذ.
And al-kahkam is also: the elderly old man, like al-qahqam, except that the 'mim' is doubled in that case.
وأيضا الرجل المتهيب، نقله الأزهري، قال: وأصله كهام فزيدت الكاف وأنشد:
And also the hesitant man, narrated by Al-Azharī, he said: its origin is 'kaham' so the 'kaf' was added, and he recited:
يا رب شيخ من عدي كهكم ...
O Lord, a sheikh from the tribe of 'Uday, a kahkam...
كالكهكامة، أورده الأزهري في تركيب كهكة، فقال: الكهكاهة: المتهيب، وكذلك الكهكامة بالميم.
Like al-kahkamah, Al-Azharī mentioned it in the entry for 'kahkahah', saying: Al-kahkahah: the hesitant one, and likewise al-kahkamah with a 'mim'.
وأنشد الليث لأبي العباس الهذلي: (ولا كهكامة برم ... إذا ما اشتدت الحقب)
And Al-Layth recited for Abu al-Abbas al-Hudhali: (And not a hesitant one from Baram... when the hardship intensifies)
ورواه أبو عبيد: ولا كهكاهة، بالهاء.
And Abu Ubayd narrated it: and not kahkahah, with a 'ha'.
