Our Sheikh said: The proximity is metaphorical, and they said: It is a city that was in eastern Egypt near Mount Sinai, which was ruined long ago, and in its place another city was built called Suez, which exists now.
وإليه يضاف بحر القلزم.
And to it is attributed the Sea of Qulzum.
هو شعبة من بحر الهند، أوله بين بلاد البربر والسودان، ثم يمتد مغربا
It is a branch of the Indian Ocean, its beginning is between the lands of the Berbers and the Sudan, then it extends westward.
وفي القلزم أغرق الله تعالى فرعون في موضع يعرف بالتنور، بينه وبين مصر سبعة أيام.

لأنه على طرفه أو لأنه يبتلع من ركبه لشدة أمواجه، أو يبتلع ما ألقى فيه
Because it is at its edge or because it swallows those who ride it due to the intensity of its waves, or swallows what is thrown into it.
وكأنهم أخذوه من غرق فرعون فيه، فإن الله تعالى أغرقه هناك
And it is as if they took it from Pharaoh's drowning in it, for Allah Almighty drowned him there.
أن مبدأ بحر القلزم من باب المندب حيث انتهاء البحر الهندي
That the beginning of the Sea of Qulzum is from the Strait of Bab-el-Mandeb, where the Indian Ocean ends.
والقلزم، كزبرج: اللئيم.
And 'al-qulzum', like 'zubraj': the ignoble person.
وتقلزم الرجل: مات بخلا ولؤما.
And the man 'taqallazama': he died of stinginess and baseness.
والزلقمة والقلزمة: الاتساع، ومنه سمي البحر زلقما وقلزما
