And he craved milk intensely, craving and craving with intense craving - as Al-Layth vocalized it - so he is 'ayman' and she is 'ayma': he desired it intensely.

وفي الحديث: " أنه كان يتعوذ من {العيمة والغيمة والأيمة
And in the Hadith: 'He used to seek refuge from intense craving for milk, intense thirst, and prolonged bachelorhood.'
فالعيمة: شدة الشهوة إلى اللبن حتى لا يصبر عنه، والغيمة: شدة العطش، والأيمة: طول العزبة.
So, 'al-'aymah' is the intensity of craving for milk until one cannot be patient with it, 'al-ghaymah' is intense thirst, and 'al-aymah' is prolonged bachelorhood.

'And Allah left him without milk': This is narrated by Al-Jauhari.
يقال: أعامنا بنو فلان، أي: أخذوا حلابنا، وأصابتنا سنة أعامتنا.
It is said: 'So-and-so's tribe left us without milk,' meaning: they took our milk supply, and a year befell us that left us without milk.

'And al-'aymah (with kasra) is the choicest of wealth': This is narrated by Al-Jauhari.
وقال الأزهري: {عيمة كل شيء: خياره، والجمع} عيم.
Al-Azhari said: 'The 'aymah' of everything is its choicest part, and its plural is 'eem'.
( {واعتام) } يعتام {اعتياما: (أخذها) ، كما في الصحاح. وفي التهذيب: اختارها.
'And he chose' - 'he chooses' - 'choosing': (he took it), as in Al-Sihah. In Al-Tahdhib: 'he selected it'.
( {والعيام، كسحاب: النهار) ، نقل الأزهري عن المؤرج، يقال: طاب {العيام، أي: طاب النهار، وطاب الشرق، أي: الشمس، وطاب الهويم، أي: الليل.
'And al-'iyyam (like 'suhab'): the daytime', narrated by Al-Azhari from Al-Mu'arrij. It is said: 'The daytime is pleasant, the sun is pleasant, and the night is pleasant'.
(ورجل} عيمان أيمان: ذهبت إبله، وماتت امرأته،) كذا في الصحاح.
'And a man 'ayman ayaman': his camels perished, and his wife died,' as stated in Al-Sihah.
قال ابن بري: وحكى أبو زيد عن الطفيل بن يزيد: امرأة {عيمى أيمى، وهذا يقضي بأن المرأة التي مات زوجها ولا مال لها عيمى أيمى.
Ibn Al-Bari said: Abu Zayd narrated from Al-Tufayl bin Yazid: 'A woman 'ayma ayma', and this implies that a woman whose husband has died and has no wealth is 'ayma ayma'.
(} وعام {معيم: طويل) ، وقيل: شديد} العيمة، عن اللحياني.
'And a tall man 'mu'im': tall, or it is said: intensely craving, according to Al-Lihyani.
( {وأعاموا: قل لبنهم) ، وذلك إذا هلكت إبلهم.
'And they had little milk': their milk became scarce, which is when their camels perished.
يقال في الدعاء على الإنسان: ماله آم} وعام، فمعنى آم: هلكت امرأته، {وعام: هلكت ماشيته، فاشتاق إلى اللبن.
It is said in a curse upon a person: 'His wealth is gone and perished,' meaning 'aam': his wife perished, and 'aam': his livestock perished, so he craved milk.
وهم {عيام} وعيامى: كعطاش وعطاشى، وأنشد ابن بري للجعدي: (كذلك يضرب الثور المعنى ... ليشرب وارد البقر {العيام)
And they are 'iyyam' and 'iyyama': like 'attash' and 'attasha' (thirsty people). Ibn Al-Bari recited for Al-Ja'di: 'Thus the bull is struck to be slaughtered... so that the thirsty cattle may drink'.
وقال أبو المثلم الهذلي: (فهم شعث رؤوسهم} عيام ... ) أراد أنهم {عيام إلى شرب اللبن.
Abu Al-Muthallim Al-Hudhali said: 'So their heads are unkempt, thirsty...' He meant that they were thirsty for drinking milk.
والاعتيام: الاختيار، ومنه حديث علي رضي الله تعالى عنه: " بلغني أنك تنفق مال الله فيمن {تعتام من عشيرتك "
And 'al-i'tiyam': is selection. And from it is the Hadith of Ali, may God bless him: 'It reached me that you spend God's wealth on whomever you choose from your kin.'
وحديثه الآخر: " رسوله المجتبى من خلائقه،} والمعتام لشرع حقائقه ".
And his other Hadith: 'His chosen messenger from His creation, and the one who selects for the law of His realities.'
وقال طرفه: (أرى الموت يعتام الكرام ويصطفي ... عقيلة مال الفاحش المتشدد)
And Tarfa said: 'I see death targeting the noble and selecting... the choicest wealth of the immodest, the stern.'
{واعتامه} اعتياما: قصده، {كاعتماه.
'And he aimed for it' - 'aiming': he intended it, 'like 'i'timah'.
