And she thammatt the sheep the thing and (the plant), tathumuhu, thaman: she plucked it with her mouth.
والثم القماش، الناس أساقيهم وآنيتهم
And al-thamm refers to possessions, people's waterskins and their vessels.
والرم مرمة البيت
And al-ram is the mending of the house.
وبدأ خلق الإنسان من طين (7) ثم جعل نسله

ولقد أمر على اللئيم يسبني ... فمضيت ثمّت قلت لا يعنيني
And I passed by a scoundrel who insulted me... So I went on, and then I said, 'It does not concern me.'
وإذا رأيت ثم رأيت نعيما
And when you look, there you will see pleasure (i.e., in Paradise).
فثم وجه الله
Then that is the face of Allah.
وتثميم العظم إبانته
And tathmeem of a bone is its separation.

وفي حديث عمر: "اغزوا والغزو حلو خضر، قبل أن يصير ثماما، ثم رماما، ثم حطاما"
And in the hadith of Umar: 'Go forth to war, and war is sweet and green, before it becomes thumam, then ramam, then hatam.'

And a mithmum house is covered with it.

And it is said of something easily attainable: it is 'on the edge of the thumam'.
وصخيرات الثمام: إحدى مراحله صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى بدر
And Sukhayrat al-Thumam: one of his stages (peace be upon him) to Badr.

And a man mitham, mu'ammim, mulimm, with kasr for all of them, is one who sets matters right and manages them.
وإنه لمثم لأسافل الأشياء.
And indeed, he is mitham for the lowest of things.
جعجع بي الدهر عن ثمه ورمه
Time tossed me about, taking away my thamm and my ramm (my little and my much).
وما يملك ثما ولا رما؛ أي: قليلا ولا كثيرا
And he owns not thamm nor ramm; meaning: little nor much.
هو أبوه على طرف الثمة، إذا كان يشبهه.
He is like his father, 'ala taraf al-thumma,' if he resembles him.
وثمثم عن الشيء: توقف
And thamthama from a thing: he stopped.
فمر نضي السهم تحت لبانه ... وجال على وحشيه لم يثمثم
So the shaft of the arrow passed under its flank... and it moved on its wild parts without faltering.
فهو لحولان القلاص ثمثام
He is an overpowering force for the young camels.
وشاة ثموم: تأكل الثمام.
And a thumoom sheep: it eats thumam.
