وأدري ولا أبكي وتبكي وما درت ... بعولتها غير البكى كيف تصنع — And I know and do not weep, and you weep, and your mates did not know how to act except by weeping.
ولم تر ما تبكي وأترك ما أرى ... وتحفظ ما تبكي له وأضيع — And you did not see what you weep for, and I leave what I see, and you remember what you weep for, and I am lost.
وما من تهتفين به لنصر ... بأسرع جابة لك من هديل — And nothing you call out for victory is answered faster than the cooing.
