فإن وصلت حبل الصفاء فدم لها
If you maintain the bond of sincere friendship, then be loyal to her.

And laylat al-waṣl: the last night of the month.
وهذه الحركات إذا اتصلت واستطالت نشأت عنها حروف المد واللين
And these vowels, when they connect and lengthen, give rise to the letters of extension and softness.

And your waṣīl: one who enters and exits with you.

وجمعهم أواصل، تقلب الواو همزة كراهة اجتماع الواوين
And their plural is awāṣil, the waw is changed to hamza to avoid the meeting of two waws.
توصل بالركبان حينا وتؤلف الجوار
He would reach out to travelers at times and befriend neighbors.
وكان اسم نبله - عليه أفضل الصلاة والسلام - الموتصلة، سميت بها تفاؤلا بوصولها إلى العدو
And the name of his spear - peace and blessings be upon him - was Al-Muttaṣilah, named so optimistically for its 'arrival' at the enemy.
فإنها لا تدغم هذه الواو وأشباهها في التاء فتقول: موتصل وموتفق وموتعد
For they do not assimilate this waw and its like into the ta', so they say: muttaṣil, muttafiq, and muttaʿid.

When she claimed lineage, she said to Bakr ibn Wa'il.
ووصل فلان رحمه يصلها صلة

وبينهما وصلة: أي اتصال وذريعة
