And al-Karbal, with kasra: a cotton gin, transmitted by Al-Jauhari, and the plural is al-Karabil.
تنفي اللغام على هاماتها قزعا ... كالبرس طيره ضرب الكرابيل
It removes the foam from their heads, disheveled... like the bird of the press, struck by the karabil.

And it is narrated that he asked about this place when he descended upon it, and it was said: Karbala, so he said: Karb and Bala (grief and trial), and he took an ill omen from this name.
فسبط سبط إيمان وبر ... وسبط غيبته كربلاء
So a descendant, a descendant of faith and righteousness... and a descendant whose absence is Karbala.
