صوابه زلته زيلا: أي أزلته
The correct form is 'zaltuhu zaylan': meaning 'I removed it'.
وزلته زيلا: أي مزته
And I removed it a removal, meaning I distinguished it.
زال الشيء، زيلا، وأزاله، إزالة، وإزالا
The thing moved, a movement; and He removed it, a removal, and a separation.

So We separated between them.
وهو على التكثير فيمن قال: زلت متعد، نحو مزته وميزته
And it is for intensification for those who say: 'zal' is transitive, like 'mazztuhu' and 'mayyaztuhu'.
أما زال يزيل، فإن الفراء قال في قوله تعالى: فزيلنا بينهم. ليست من زلت وإنما هي من زلت الشيء، فأنا أزيله، إذا فرقت ذا من ذا
As for 'zala' yuzilu, Al-Farra' said regarding the verse: 'fazayyalna baynahum'. It is not from 'zal' (to move), but rather from 'zalla ash-shay', so I 'uziluhu', if you separate this from that.
وقرأ بعضهم: فزايلنا بينهم، وهو مثل قولك: لا تصعر ولا تصاعر
And some of them read: 'fazayalnā baynahum', and it is like your saying: 'do not turn your cheek and do not turn your cheek'.
فزيلنا أي فرقنا، وهو من زال، يزول، وأزلته أنا
'Fazayyalna' means We separated, and it is from 'zala, yazulu', and I 'azaltuhu'.
وهذا غلط من القتيبي، ولم يميز بين زال يزول، وزال! يزيل، كما فعل الفراء
And this is an error by Al-Qutaybi, and he did not distinguish between 'zala yazulu' and 'zala yuzilu', as Al-Farra' did.
وزايله، مزايلة، وزيالا: فارقه
And he parted from him, a parting, and a separation: he left him.
والحبيب المزايل: المباين
And the beloved who is separate: the distinct one.
ويقال: خالطوا الناس وزايلوهم، أي فارقوهم في الأفعال
And it is said: Mix with people and part from them, meaning separate from them in actions.
والزيال: افراق، والتزايل: التباين
And 'az-ziyal': separation, and 'at-tazayul': mutual parting.
إلى ظعن كالدوم فيها تزايل ... وهزة أحمال لهن وشيج
To caravans like the 'dawm' trees in which there is separation... and the shaking of loads for them is a rustling sound.
وهو متزايل عنه، أي: محتشم، لأنه إذا احتشمه باينه بشخصه، وانقبض عنه

And it is said: I withdraw from you, so I do not dare to approach you.
والزيل، محركة: تباعد ما بين الفخذين، كالفحج
And 'az-zayl', vocalized: the widening between the thighs, like 'al-fahj'.
أجلى الجبين، أقنى الأنف، أزيل الفخذين أفلج الثنايا، بفخذه الأيمن شامة

That two men brought a dispute before him, and one of them was a mixed-up debater.
المزيل هو الجدل في الخصومات، الذي يزول من حجة إلى حجة
The 'muzayyil' is the one who argues in disputes, who shifts from one argument to another.
وما زلت أفعله، كما تقول: ما برحت
And I kept doing it, as you say: 'ma barihtu' (I did not cease).
وقلما يتكلم به إلا بحرف النفي
And it is rarely used except with a negation particle.
ليس يراد بما زال ولا يزال الفعل من زال يزول، إذا انصرف من حال إلى حال، وزال عن مكانه، ولكنه يراد بهما ملازمة الشيء، والحال الدائمة
It is not intended by 'ma zala' and 'la yazalu' the action of 'zala yazulu', if it departs from one state to another, and moves from its place, but rather it is intended by them to persist in something, and a permanent state.
فهي والتامة مختلفان في المادة، تلك مركبة من ز ول، وهذه من ز ي ل
So they and the complete verb are different in root; that one is composed of Z-W-L, and this one from Z-Y-L.
أو الناقصة مغيرة من التامة، بنوها على فعل، بكسر العين، بعد أن كانت مفتوحة
Or the incomplete verb is a modification of the complete verb, they built it on 'fa'ala', with a kasra on the 'ayn', after it was fatha.
أو هي من زاله يزيله، إذا مازه
Or it is from 'zalahu yuziluhu', if you distinguish it.
قولهم: ما زال، ولا يزال، أجريا مجرى كان، وفي رفع الاسم ونصب الخبر
Their saying: 'ma zala', and 'la yazalu', are treated like 'kana', in raising the subject and نصبing the predicate.
وأصله من الياء، لقولهم: زيلت: أي ما برحت
And its origin is from 'ya', because they say: 'zayyalta': meaning 'you did not cease'.
ولا يصح أن يقال: ما زال زيد إلا منطلقا، كما يقال: ما كان زيد إلا منطلقا
And it is not correct to say: 'ma zala Zayd illa muntaqilan', as it is said: 'ma kana Zayd illa muntaqilan'.
وذلك أن زال يقتضي معنى النفي، إذ هن ضد الثبات، وما ولا يقتضيان النفي، والنفيان إذا اجتمعا اقتضيا الإثبات
And that is because 'zala' implies the meaning of negation, as they are the opposite of permanence, and 'ma' and 'la' do not imply negation, and two negations, when they combine, imply affirmation.
فصار قولهم: ما زال يجري مجرى كان، في كونه إثباتا
So their saying: 'ma zala' became like 'kana', in being an affirmation.
وما زلت بزيد وما زلت وزيدا حتى فعل ذلك، زيالا، أي بزيد
And I remained with Zayd and I remained with Zayd until he did that, a separation, meaning with Zayd.
وحكى بعضهم: زلت أفعل، بمعنى: ما زلت أفعل، وهو قليل
And some of them narrated: 'zaltu af'alu', meaning: 'ma zaltu af'alu', and it is rare.
ما زيل فلان يفعل كذا، لغة في: ما زال
'Ma zayyal' so-and-so does such-and-such, a variant for: 'ma zala'.
وهذا كما يقال: في كاد: كيد
And this is like saying: for 'kada': 'kayda'.
المتزايلة من النساء: التي تستر وجهها عنك
The 'mutazayilah' among women: she who covers her face from you.
وزيل زويله، أي ذهبت حركته
And 'zayyal' its movement, meaning its movement departed.
أي استفز من الفرق، وهو من إسناد الفعل إلى مصدره
Meaning it was agitated by fear, and it is from attributing the verb to its masdar.
زيل منا زويلها. أي زيل قلبها من الفزع
'Zayyal' from us its movement. Meaning its heart was agitated by fear.
ويحتمل أن يكون زيل في البيت مبنيا للمفعول، من زاله الله، والزويل بمعنى الزوال
And it is possible that 'zayyal' in the verse is passive, from 'Allah moved it', and 'az-zuwayl' meaning 'az-zuwal'.
وأن يكون زيل لغة في زال، ويدل على صحة ذلك أنه يروى: زيل منا زوالها، وزال منا زويلها
And that 'zayyal' is a variant for 'zal', and what indicates the correctness of that is that it is narrated: 'zayyal minna zuwalaha', and 'zal minna zuwaylaha'.
